New Ram owner here, I took delivery of a 2017 Ram Laramie Crewcab 4X4 yesterday evening. I'm a long time Ford man so I'm trying to learn the ins and outs of this truck. Also at my age I'm not too savvy of this high tech stuff. Can someone here explain to me in a simple way what this DriveUconnect is and what it does. I have a copy of the window sticker for my truck and it says a registration is required. Is this something you have to pay a monthly subscription fee to access like you would Sirius radio? Is this a navigation system also?
I'll write more as I think of other things. During your free trial, really look over the features. You'll have to decide if uconnect is worth the $120.00 a year fee.
You might ask how many people have kept the uconnect, paying the annual fee.
As already mentioned... Uconnect gives you a few apps to use. Navigation if on your truck is there w/o uconnect.
Siriusxm is an additional fee/cost. Too include the Hotspot is an additional fee/cost.
Briefly uconnect offers:
9-1-1 Call - I think this is always there...
Roadside Assistance Call
Yelp
Theft Alarm Notification
Stolen Vehicle Assistance
Voice Texting
Remote Door Lock/Unlock
Remote Vehicle Start
Remote Horn and Lights
WiFi Hotspot (Extra Charges Apply)
Via Mobile Apps:
Pandora
iHeartRadio
Slacker
Aha
I hope that helps a bit... For myself, I am disappointed with uconnect and haven't paid the annual fee. Also, I'm very disappointed with the truck's navigation. Google maps app is free, we should be able to connect from my phone to the truck. Or Ram, why not just offer Google maps, thru the truck. Additionally, I feel we should be able to connect thru our phones to the truck additional apps.
Lastly, watch using Bluetooth thru ur phone... Then switching to radio. Bluetooth music might need volume 32...the radio only 20. You'll start blowing speakers. Learn to turn down the volume when Bluetooth is still streaming... Then switch to radio.
I really hope this helps. I do enjoy my 2015 Ram 1500 Lone Star Ecodiesel. My only complaint is the radio, navigation, and uconnect.
