I'm all in with the Absorbers. The Sham-Wows suck at drying a vehicle. The Absorbers always work.

I used to use one of those silicon drying "blade" things then microfiber towels. Now I just use the towels. Actually did my truck today. We are under a water savings ban that prohibits you from washing your own vehicle, but I'm on a well so I'm exempt.

I use a Master Blaster from Metro Vac, and a waffle towel from Autogeek for the door, gas door, and tailgate jams....Those waffle towels can hold a TON of water....

I've used the absorber for years. My 13 year old one was starting to get a bit ratty, so I ordered a new one.

The new ones are no where near as good as the old ones. Something changed in how they are made in the past 13 years.

I bought a P21S Drying Towel based on recommendations - but haven't used it yet. Perhaps this weekend.

Waffle Weave Microfiber "the Guzzler" works great and takes about 10 min. start to finish.

I try to touch the paint as little as possible so I take the highway home from the wand wash place (soft water, boar's hair brushes- awesome!) to get 90% of the water off. Once home, I QD or quick wax it with a MF and it's done- no need to dry.
If I do ever need to dry I use "The Absorber" synthetic chamois.

I thought the same as well. Finally tossed my ten year old absorber and bought a new one. It didn't work at all for the first few washes but now seems to be the same as the old one. Maybe they need broken in a little, who knows.

After the waterfall rinse, I follow up with Absorber XL. The XL is larger, and has a waffle-weave-like pattern (compared to original Absorber).

I'll definately second the MasterBlaster.

Bought one shortly after I bought my Vette, and now using it on the Ram and our other vehicles. Blows 20* warmer than the ambient temperature, and gets all the nooks and crannies where water seeps out after drying with other products listed on here.

Best of all - it's only high powered warm air on the paint surface. The less you touch the paint, the better it's gonna look.

On a recent episode of Fifth Gear they visited a guy who charges $5000 for a complete car detail and oh my god this guy actually did earn his money. He took a brand new Bentley that looked spotless and it was unbelievable what the paint looked like when he was done. I personally don’t do a lot of waxing with tools and such and I don’t wax that often either, but a couple things I did learn though were he used two buckets for washing. One with a spacer in the bottom of the bucket to rinse his mitt off after a body panel and the spacer was there to let the dirt settle in the bottom. His other bucket being his soap bucket. Secondly, and related to this thread was he used detail towels to dry the cars and only laid them on the car and lifted them straight up to dry the car, so to not drag the rag across the car. Pretty neat!

a shamwow...

I liked the post mostly because I was laughing my asre off after reading, not at your choice of the shamwow, but at the crazy dude that does the commercials.

Tried just laying towels on the truck. absolutely took too much time and wasn't easy. I'll have to look into some of ya'lls other examples....

Went back to the absorber XL. Just in case you guys didn't do it with your new absorber I think I read where you are suppose to soak and rinse it in warm slightly soapy water prior to first use.
