I am thinking about going to a dual electric fan setup instead of the clutch fan on my Ram 2500 PW and I'm looking for some worries to be out to rest. It tows daily and goes off-road daily.

How reliable are they? My pa said he seem way to many fail to trust them and that has me worried. Last thing I want to be is 500 miles from home and have them fail. Who's running them and did you have any fail?

What are you hoping to gain by removing it? More power?

Yeah I had the engine done up and figured every little bit helps

You definitely would gain a bit of power from removing it.

I honestly wouldn’t worry to much about electric fans failing. It’s not very common at all that I see any FCA vehicle coming in with a failed electric fan. The 5th gen rams got rid of the engine mounted fan and just use an electric fan.

On the other side of the coin if a possible failure worries you that much then just leave it.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about an electric fan failing.

Weird was going to get a 5th Gen PW and never looked in the engine bay. I thought about keeping the fan in the truck in case the electric ones so fail. I see there is a kit for $800 with fish electric fans.

The HD trucks still use a viscous engine fan, the 1500s got rid of it.

You think going with electric it will have enough cooling power over the engine viscous fan? If the OP is towing heavy he may not have enough cooling ability.
The fan used on the Hemi/EcoDiesel is an 850watt, not sure if what the OP is thinking of installing will be able to move as much or more air.

If the stock 4th gen rad shroud, clutch fan and electric fan all fit your generation truck, you would have the best of both worlds. The 4th gen setup is very efficient and dependable.

I don't know if it would bolt up though or if the clutch fan spins the same direction - I want to think it is opposite of the 06 hemi. If it does spin opposite of the later hemis, a 4.7 clutch would fit and matched with the right fan does work very well when also matched with an electric fan.
