So moving more intop retirement and looking at RV trailer trips. Does replacing the clutch fan with an electric benefit my vehicle measurably?

Leave it alone Dave. The factory set-up can't be beat if you're towing. The only real benefit to the V6 fan upgrade is if you're going to race the truck, and run a 180 thermostat and tune the truck, and you're not going to do either, lol

Will echo the others. You're not going to beat the factory fan when it comes to cooling. Not sure why the "racing" guys do it either. It's what, two or three horsepower to drive that fan? Ain't like you're gaining a ton by deleting it.

Faster engine rev from less drag. Not so much for the HP. It may not be the most noticeable gain but it does help. I’m actually contemplating doing an under drive pulley on my truck as well for the same reason. Really didn’t want to because it’s hot as heck in south Florida and I’m worried about not enough coolant flow during summer if I am hauling stuff around. Honestly I’ve been wanting just a stock size lighter weight but they don’t sell one

Now the old man in me comes out...
It ain't the 90's anymore and your truck isn't a 2500lb Honda. These engines are running just about as well as they can run in stock form. Two, five, ten horsepower isn't going to gain you anything in a 5500lb vehicle and may actually hurt the engine in the long run if it's gained from stuff like altering the cooling system. If you want major gains you're gonna spend major bucks. Cam, rear end gears, forced induction. The days of cheap and easy big gains from simple bolt-ons are over.

Yes but no. Reducing engine drag allows for faster off the line. Like stated the electric fan is not for the HP it’s for reducing engine drag. The clutch fan is negligible but is constant parasitic drag. If you would like to talk about things I’ve done to my truck feel free to private message me or look at my build list. The things I’ve done are definitely not “cheap and easy”. I’ve got decent knowledge about vehicles. An underdrive pulley is good for someone racing but not as valuable for someone like me who daily drives and off roads hence why I have not purchased it. My truck is lifted on 35s with the 6.4 intake manifold, long tube headers, already came factory with 3.92 gears and lsd. If I noticed better throttle response after doing the electric fan being lifted on 35s then it definitely helps

Nitrous is still relatively cheap and can give a very noticable gain :waytogo: A 75 shot can be run fairly safely on the stock tune ,if you run 2 step colder plugs and keep the tank full of at least 91,even better if you can keep it full of 93/94.
A 75 shot is good for almost a second on a stock truck.
