I'm debating between having a new y-pipe and muffler installed but was thinking it might be better to just do dual pipes into a dual in dual out muffler and still use stock tail pipes

I have the SI/SO setup. I've been talking to Matt over at Moes and I went with the Magnaflow Y pipe and 18" Magnaflow exhaust. I kept the rest of he OEM exhaust. He said that would cover your exhaust needs up to 400 RWHP. I found a place up here that would install both for $120.

Like said, a true dual exhaust is overkill unless you plan to make big power. I would just keep it simple and stick with the single in/dual out.

I just don't like the looks of the y pipe being patched in

Well you won't have to realistically look at the Y pipe ever. So don't let the looks of it make up your mind. Unless you mean that the install looks tough, that would definitely make sense.

The look of the y-pipe? Y-pipe is for function, not looks. True duals is overkill. Follow Matt's solid advice.

In my opinion it's only a bad thing when it takes money away from other mods you could do! And/or if it's not worth the money. Gotta be smart since modding is so addictive lol

Yea that sounds like a smart choice to me. I'll be excited to see how the truck runs with whatever mod you choose.
