So I was thinking (Uh oh..)...

What if there was a way to make the factory LED blinkers and tails strobe lights? This would be much cheaper and simpler (I think) to install than doing a hide away kit.

They make LED strobe flasher moduals like this: https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...-me-solid-state-random-led-flasher/1744/4257/

My question is how hard would it be to wire into the factory harness or fuse box? and how effective would it be? Would they stop flashing when you hit the brakes or used the blinkers? Is there a way to make it so the strobeing ignores your blinkers and brakes?

I know this can be done, they do it for the rear LED's on the Charger police cars, I just want to know if some one has enough know how to answer my questions on this.

You all have to admit, this would be **** for plowing as the LED's are super bright on the projector headlights, as are the tails and would save some coin on a hide away kit.

Couple of things.. Most if not all of your lighting is controlled via canbus. The charger police units are built with a relay to control the lights through the canbus, which is programmed to allow the lights to flash the way they do when the relay is activated through the switch control that the up-fitter has installed. There might be a way to wire them through a relay, but you run the risk of getting a light out incidator every time you use them. Not an easy solution to make them flash.

A friend of mine owns a Vehicle Equipment company and works on all the surrounding towns police cars - sets them up soup to nuts. I think I am going to get his take on it, and report back. I did think about the CANBus but figured it could be manipulated some how. I can deal with a MIL when the lights are on, if that's my biggest issue I'll be happy.

I'm thinking if this could be done you would see it a lot more, unless im that creative (which I doubt).

i dont see why you cant. however i would relay isolate each light so if this is on it doesnt back feed into the trucks system.

on the downfall its either this or using it as the standard lights. meaning you cant use this then have your turn signals go on, or brake lights...

So I talked to him and he said the CANBUS is a *****.. we would have to isolate them with relays. I just have no know how on how to write up a schematic. I been trying to figure it out in my head and I still can't make sense of it. Can anyone maybe give me a quick one to get me on the right track?

here is the wire sematics

http://www.ramforum.com/575982-post1.html

I assum since I have projectors and LED tails I have the "premium" not "base" harness on my truck. Wich makes this even more difficult. cause now I have a DRL wire, and a turn signal wire.

Im thinking the DRL wire is what put the running lights on full burn with the LM5 code - which i have enabled (its pretty bad ass..). I could use that but what will happen when I hit my blinker or try to use the stobes at night, or with the truck in park as the DRLs disable..

I have a million questions I just dont know where to start. I did message my buddy that runs the Cop car company and im going to show him the diagrams to see if he can figure out a way to relay isolate this and make it independent.

Please if anyone has some input do share..

oh yeah and im just as lost for the rear.

And crickets.. not suprised. If this was about adding a stereo system, muffler, thermostat, catch can, or an intake im sure I would have 400 replies by now lol

I need people to help me think out side the box for once on this forum....:sleepy10:

If I were the manufacturer and new the difficulty of working around the CANBUS, I would sell a module for the fleet vehicles I sell to be used as emergency/hazardous/construction vehicles.

If the manufacturer hasn't thought of this, I'm sure the aftermarket has...

I know they have the RAM and Charger pursuits but they are stripped down and dont have the projector headlights. And they do make a module or the rear of the Chargers to make the "racetrack" lighting flash. but thats all i could fine. It would be cool to talk to some one from RAM that had the power to do stuff like this. Im sure its not easy tho.
