I have a 2016 express so it didn't come with the factory sub. I was given one but what else is needed to run it? I know the wires are already there.

You would need some form of amplifier. The factory sub is found in the Alpine system which has an amplifier that runs all the speakers in the vehicle.
If you want to add a sub to your vehicle consider something like the Kicker Hideaway, you can mount it behind the rear seat. Another one to consider is the Kicker SRAMCQ09, this one fits under the back seat. There is also various other manufacturer's self powered subs that I'm sure people will chime in with

Convert, for now.
Engine
small
The PXA5001 is now EOL, so the new one to look at would be the 47KEY5001
Same 500 watts at 1 ohm, but gets the factory equalization, flattens it out, so you can boost full bass freq.

it seriously is like 30 minutes to install, makes a huge difference.
Custom Sounds can get you one.
This is the kit, plug and play harness. And you can get them down in price :)

I appreciate everyone's help. Might have to go with the kicket setup
I think when I got mine from hifisoundconnection the algorithm accepted $416 as the lowest price.

If you add an OEM Alpine enclosure that's not the case.

I have the alpine system and enclosure. The factory box for the Alpine sucks
Reread, guessing you meant where the factory box is?
Replace the speaker and pack the box with polyfil (from a new or old pillow) and it sounds pretty good.
