So for future convenience, I replaced my front and rear covers while doing fluid changes today. pretty quick and easy, except the rear cover I had to make a simple 'adapter' for the rear brake lines since the attachment point is not on the aftermarket cover. Also the BD rear cover requires a 1/2 inch spacer (included) for the rear sway bar.

now question: is the fluid service interval the same front and rear? or can the front go longer if 4x4 is not used often?20180513_162104.jpg

I plan on doing the same at 120k when I have to change the oil again.

I have always based axle service intervals on use.

Been underwater? Change it more often.

Towing tons? Change it more often.

Mechanical locker? Change it more often.

That said, the front sees limited engagement, limited towing loads, and limited submersion (think boat launch), so less often is usually ok.
