+1

I have these on my truck and the output is good. But I agree that they don't have that bright white of the HID's on my last truck. I didn't feel like modifying my lights so I just stuck with the Sylvania's. You won't be dissapointed if you are coming from the stock bulbs.

beats me. they were much better than the stock bulbs too, but no life to them. I don't think it was wiring or the plugs either because basic cheap stock bulbs lasted much longer

Sylvania Silverstars are the best non-HID bulb that I'm aware of. I had the "Ultras" on my last truck...they did pretty good. I don't remember having a problem with them lasting, but I think they were only on my truck a year before I traded it in.

why didnt they last?

There is a output vs life curve for filament bulbs. They try to explain it a little on the back of the Sylvania packaging. The stock bulbs are designed for max life (hence the weak output), while the Sylvania's (Ultras) are max output (sometimes causing a short life). There are some mid-grade Sylvania bulbs that are a compromise between life and output.

I've tried PIAA and Silverstar bulbs... After 2 year of f'n around with changing the PIAAs every 3-5 months, I put the Silverstar bulbs in. I noticed a dramatic drop in light output. Its simple. HiDs in projectors are the smartest use of your headlight fund. Its next on my list.

Also a note to add. Make sure when changing the bulbs out you don't want to touch the glass of the bulb. The oils from your hands can cause the bulbs to burn out.

I don't think there's anything too tricky if you go to a reputable dealer.

(Lights the JJ Bat-Signal)

Like I say, I haven't done 'em yet... But with everything I've heard, JJ's name is already on the cheque.

Slyvania zxe are awesome, very bright (brighter then ultras) and have a white color 4200k color which is almost a pure white not bad for a halogen. (many oem hids color is 4300k)

I have the zxe on my truck and the ultras on wife's explorer. Both are bright but zxe has nice hue.

halogens.....well, stink.

I drove home tonight with my halogens. I almost came home and started cracking open a set of lights to put projectors in. Then I looked at the clock, and my awaiting messages. LOL

HIDs. :D

The wiring looks like a mess, but its not bad! Hardest part is getting the headlights out, and you'll have to do that to swap the bulbs to anything else.........so - HID that thing. :D
