Stellantis marketing strategy seems to be "You want a Hemi? Then you also have to buy this unreliable and unwanted etorque stuff, you gotta buy both" Kinda like dating a wonderful and beautiful girl and finding out her sister, Helga-the wrestling champion, has to tag along.

Personally, I will NEVER understand the logic behind the decision to implement the eTorque system. I mean, if it gave you a short burst of extra electric power, then I might be persuaded. And I'm quite astonished that they are still mandating it on the new RAM Hemi. I know the production line is set up that way... but.... I would've guessed there's a huge financial incentive for Stellantis to just simply drop eTorque completely.

Definitely one of the things keeping me from owning a Hemi! ETorque, MDS, auto start /stop. Was going to start looking at trucks again but I think Ill wait a few years and see which way these manufactures go. Just nothing out there right now with any of them that are getting good enough reviews to warrant the price they are asking.

I thought they already removed the start stop. My Wife's suv has an overrride button.

I think it was more like the engineering was done and the tooling was still in storage somewhere, so the E-Torque was the fastest way to get the engine back in the line up.

My buddy's 2020 Ferd has an override button, but it resets with each ignition cycle.

If I were still working for a living and frequently travelling in his truck to scuba sites, I would have paid for the S/S fix. That is one PITA that I can't accept unless the truck is free.
Then I'd fix it ASAP.

I think they offered the HEMI because of pressure from buyers, and then included E-Torque to make it flop. That way they can say we tried, and no one wanted it.

Stellantis’ $26 billion bet on EVs just backfired

That's pants on head silly. It's far from a flop, most customers don't know or care. They had something like 10k pre-orders out of the gate and take rate is supposedly around 1 in 3 at this point.

It technically does...but it's so miniscule and so brief as to be irrelevant. It gives an irrelevant boost off the line and gives you little boosts during transmission shifts to supposedly help smooth it out and provide power as the transmission is between gears. Real world results are so small they aren't even measurable in 1/4 mile times.

Not like a real performance hybrid that has an electric drive motor.

I'd definitely be wanting to trade mine in after a month or so. Of course, my wife, being the cheap one, would probably want me to keep waiting. It would be tempting to find one at a pick a part and just have a private mechanic swap it out.

Meanwhile, my wife's 2019 Ford Expedition has already had cam phasers and the trans replaced at 60K miles. Both jobs took less than two weeks at the dealer. Never any parts on backorder.

6 months is unreal. Hopefully, the folks at Stellantis take into consideration that 'Auto Stop/Start' is no longer required or desired, and thus Stellantis would actually install Hemi's without the atrocious eTorque.
When I decided to get a RAM, I looked for one without the E Torque and without the stop start. I found one at CarMax that was a 2019 with under 30k miles in a Kimited trim. Best Truck I have ever owned and I don’t have to worry about those two technologies that are a grenade waiting to happen.

Pretty much have to go to HD trucks to avoid turbos, stop/start, mild hybrids, etc no matter the brand. Even the are not getting the driver monitoring, OTA, etc.

There's no new truck that interests me at this point.

Oof, the old 305 equipped malaise era Corvettes because even in neutered form the 350 wasn't CA compliant. Never has a car looked so fast to go so slow as a CA compliant C3.
Ha! Ha! I had an airplane like that once, a Piper J-3 with a 65 hp engine. I flew so slow, it got bird strikes from the back!

Truck had 72000 miles when eTorque went out. When they put a new one on I asked them when I picked up the truck how long is the warranty on the new eTorque they said when I reached 80000.
I would research that a little more. It seems most MOPAR parts are sold with a two year nationwide warranty. With that being said, I would sell that e-friendly junk on some simpler alternative.

Parts replaced under warranty are only warrantied to the end of the warranty that covered them. Parts replaced outside of warranty are covered by the 2 yr nationwide.

Nope, they still have it. All auto stop/start vehicles have an override button.

Yea, they all reset once the vehicle is shut off and turned back on.

I dont know why everybody thinks its such a big pita. U simply press a button. Does pressing the button to start the vehicle **** people off too?! Im 6000 miles in with my first auto start/stop vehicle…its second nature now to reach down 4” and hit the off button right after i hit the button to start the truck.

She remembers about half the time when I am riding with her, but she is driving, so it is what is. Our major milege is in the country and highway so just annoying, not infuriating!

Rode smooth, but a lil red wagon pulled by a 3 year old outdistance that dog
I had a 1978 Caddy El Dorado. 425ci v-8. No little red wagon outdoing that car.

Dats way before they downsized all the motors in the Deville which were kinda mid sized. But u know just is wat it is.

It’s crazy how they chopped down the V8 to a 4.1 L motor. But alas it was a decent ride though even my old Dog 78 Caprice with a 305 run circles around it. More is a status car the Caddy was.

I think the Euroweenie overlords have contracts for lots of electro-Gee-whiz gizmos and can't sell them to they are trying to unload them this way.
