I am installing my new HID for fogs and lowers. I have one side installed and I notice that when I turn the truck on sometimes with the head lights the lowers do not come on. The Fogs do not have a problem at all. I have a capactor on the lowers. I also have a relay but it's not installed. I was told after I ordered the kits that the relay would blow my capacitor and not to install the relay. Is this true, or do I need to remove the capacitor and then install the relay, or install them both?

Help ASAP would be greatly appreciated. If you want to call me to help me by all means shoot me a PM and I can get you my number if that is easier.

Thank you!

Derrick

Well I figured out that the passenger side light works perfectly every time. I think the capacitor might be defective or something of the sort. I'm weary about swapping the capacitor because I don't want the one good one that I do have, presumably, to blow. I mean if the capacitor blew, would I have noticed and heard a loud pop?

Wait......who told you that the relay wouldn't work?

Please install the kit with the supplied parts. :D

Trust me, I've sold hundreds of these kits, Todd (my supplier) has sold thousands. If we didn't need the relay....we wouldn't send it with the kits. ;)

Well the person that told me experienced them first hand blowing up on him lol.

Would the problem of one not igniting all the time but all the others working perfectly be from not using the relay?

Alrighty, ill do that tomorrow afternoon. So use the capacitors and the relay? I just wanna make sure I do it right so that I don't risk blowing my capicators. I'm leaving out on Monday for north Dakota for a fishing trip and don't want to be screwed on my lighting.

When you get it all done, please do this - I'd like to verify proper functionality.

To test function after installation, please perform the following test:
- Turn off any factory entry or safety lighting features (keeps headlamps on after turning off vehicle for short period)
- vehicle engine off
- turn on low beam lamps
- allow them to warm up to full output
- turn switch to off and count seconds until the lights physically turn off
- please reply back with your result

I have a question about the relay install. I know that two of the connections go to the ballast, then the third connection that is a female end, that plugs into where? Your instructions you posted online say something about plugging it into one of the plugs in the lamp housing itself? So it would go (on one side) like this?

Relay> Capacitor >Ballast?

Then on the side that needs the connection to the lamp you go:
Relay>Lamp connection?

Then the HID harness just plugs the two smaller "round looking" plugs into the ballast?

I hope I understand this correctly..

Should I hook everything up then connect it to my battery? I think that would be the smartest way to do things right?

The cap link has an H11 plug on the end of it. That plugs to the driver's side plug inside the light.

Run to the battery, couple grounds, the plugs with grounds go to the ballasts. boom, done. Follow the directions on where to put dielectric grease as well. It also has a pretty good wiring diagram for these.

After its done, plug into the battery.

Ok so instead of it the H11 plug inside the drivers side head light going to the capacitor then into the ballast, it will go into the relay harness female connector correct? Then the male connector for the driver side will connect to the capacitor then into the ballast?

Then the same for the passenger side for the relay to capacitor to ballast, but where do I hook the H11 plug inside the passenger side up to? Just leave it alone? or what?

Sorry for all the questions, I thought I had it figured out, but I guess maybe I do not lol.

the pass side won't use a connection.

Just want to confirm....... you have the diagram right?

All I have to go off of is the forum thread you posted. The kit I got didn't include a diagram for the relay, everything else but the relay.

I also noticed that when I hit the unlock button on the remote and the lights come one. Sometimes both head lights will come on like normal, other times the drivers side will flicker like it tried to ignite but for some reason failed.

There should be a big red paper in the box, typically over the ballasts, that has a big stop sign, and a link for the directions. This is done to keep costs down (printing adds up quite fast!). You'll need to enter your last name and the order number from the packing slip. I'll pm you the info as well.

On the unlock, the truck is set for illuminated entry. The truck isn't giving full power to the ballasts, causing the issue. The relay harness will help that, but I don't recommend illuminated entry. I don't need to see when walking to the truck.........at noon.

But, put the harness on, please!
