Does your horn have a .5 sec delay.... I slap my horn to say hello to my neighbor and it sounds off half a block later...and not with a short blast but this long "get out the way" blast... I refuse to use it

First off I think we have to address your main concern here; speeding in a residential zone.
City blocks vary considerably in size, but a good median size if 300' long. If you covered half a block in half a second (the delay of your horn), you were travelling at 447mph in your own neighborhood. First, congratulations. Second, I hope you take the truck to the Bonneville salt flats and represent us well; that is an impressive speed. Third, I'm pulling your leg and sorry to hear your horn is slower than a GMC :ehcapt:

Same here. I want to do a quick tap most times and it turns out as a long blast. I thought it was just me.

I'd say your budget is about the only restriction. With a good size tank and compressor, along with large enough bells, you'll get that deep semi truck sound. It's not cheap!(or we'd all do it LOL)

My wife thought I was nuts when I told her this. I feel the same way. The only thing I miss it for is pulling in the garagr and the kids open the door to the house. Id usually blast off a series of quick horn beeps for them. Not anymore.

I'm sure there are many here who know more than I do; I've just done some shopping but the wife says 'No, until it's just a toy"...
I would buy it somehwere they sell real stuff; at least a step up from Pep Boys.
Air Horns: Big Rig Chrome Shop
Truck Horns, Air Horns & Train Horns At StylinTrucks.Com
Air Horns of Texas, Train Horns, Train Air Horns

They all have good stuff starting from a few hundred bucks for bells, compressor, tank etc to sky's the limit. Check out Unbroken's truck, with a real set of 5 train bells under the truck. Apparently it's BONKERS loud :happy107:

I have this delay also. It even happens when I double tap the remote start. This didn't happen with my 2012. Maybe it's a 13 thing.

My only conclusion is that the horn is somehow computer controlled. If that is the case there is a solution. Find the trigger wire, tap in, wire to a relay and connect that to the horn. Bypass the delay all together.

If I have time this weekend I'll figure it out and write up a How To.

Yep same delay here. I don't feel like I'm the one controlling the horn, sucks big time.

I put Green LEDs in my High Beams (Bixenon projectors take care of useful light) so I just use my 'flash to pass' to wave. I've noticed my horn takes longer than it should as well.

I just used our horn for the first time last night ("Uh, it's been green for a while now, bud") and gave him 3 blasts instead of a short one or two LOL
There is def. a pause.
