I will take a look underneath my driver seat there are few modules down there I will try to see what they say. The sport seats are available ventilated but it is an option the standard sport seats are only heated.

On another note, I just got my clock spring in the mail already have the seats and the switch. The problem is I don't have my truck back yet, from the shop. They originally promised it to me today. When I called Tue they gave me some horse-crap about how backed up they were. I made an apt 2 weeks in advance. I am seriously worried something happened and they are covering! Going to make a surprise visit today.

Sorry got off course, my conundrum is not physically replacing the clock spring but the implications. Give Fiat any chance to deny you on warranty issues they will jump at it. But the big issue is the recall R36 NHTSA 15V-459 for the clock spring. My question is RICK did you transfer the process from R36 to the clock spring when you replaced yours. I am almost tempted to have the dealership installed it, just so Fiat cant screw me! Yes I know its just a wire tie.

If the seats are leather then they're heated and cooled. The only seats that are heated only are the stock Sport ones which are vinyl and cloth and the Big Horn ones which are all cloth.

The recall doesn't have anything to do with the clockspring. It's the steering wheel wiring harness that has too much slack and chafes. This is a more relevant concern for someone replacing that harness, like when they're adding steering wheel radio controls.

I haven't done the wheel yet, but I am going to have the dealer do the clockspring just for that reason. I've had the wheel off and could do the clockspring but I'm just going to let the dealer to do it. Plus I'm out of time and the weather is going south again and I want the heated wheel lol

Do they have the Laramie emblem embossed in the back rest? Some of the sport seats are leather with perforated cloth inserts and are heated only. I have a Sport center stack that has the heat buttons only, yet it has dual zone auto climate and the truck came with an RA4. Its weird that Fiat made the ventilated seats an additional option on the Sport. I could be wrong but I think heated / ventilated is standard on all Laramies.

Yeah they have the Laramie emblem embossed in the back rest.

The clockspring is one of the easiest parts of the job. I personally think it's crazy to pay the dealer to do it. They may be reluctant to replace it with the "wrong" part anyway.

Like I posted above, the clockspring has nothing to do with the recall. If your truck had the fix applied, it will still be there after swapping the clockspring. If it didn't, it still won't be fixed once the clockspring is replaced.

I think warranty issues aren't a valid concern because even if the dealer does it, you have the "wrong" steering wheel, clockspring, and wiring harness installed. If they're looking for a reason to deny a warranty claim, they don't have to go very far.

I could be wrong but I think the recall does affect the clock spring, is that 6 pin connector that they bend 180 degrees and put a tie wrap around the clockspring connector. Figure 6 and 7. I agree it's easy and silly to pay dealer to do it, but if they do it cheap enough and my warranty would remain intact, key word being would it might be worth it.

I know a few guys on the other forum who had theirs replaced by the dealer for this exact reason and Fiat supposedly was involved "those secret agents from STAR"!
and onboard with it but they never got the wheel working likely because of the missing wiring.

No. It's the steering wheel harness. It plugs into the clockspring, but the receiving socket on the clockspring is integral to it and doesn't have a wire lead.

Oh here's a spin I had the recall performed after I replaced my steering wheel from cheapo to leather heated with all the buttons.

They did the recall and never said a thing about it.

You would think the tech would know tradesman don't come with heated leather wheels plus the fact the heated connector was not plugged in.

I am at work but I will check when I get home. I could have made a mistake when I typed it all out. As far as I know the trucks should be the same. Oh and congratulations! On the ventelation part of it does it not work on either side? I am thinking it should work on the drivers side even if you had the passenger side pinned wrong. The drivers side should only need to be connected to the CAN which obviously it is or the heat wouldnt work and have power to both pink/yellow wires in the driivers side yellow seat plug. Do the blue lights come on in either switch when you press them?

Same bus, installed larmie seats in my Bighorn. Heated works, cooled is not!

So you had all the factory wiring correct? You just swapped the seats and added the right button module? I wonder if there is some option that needs to be added in the BCM or HSCM? Did you add the heated wheel also? Is yours a 1500 or HD?

1500 add the proper button module, did not add the steering wheel yet. Took a bit to figure out the proper button module but I got it. My truck did not have heated seats to start with.

All the funtions on the module works, the front and rear parking sensor disable, the traction control, heated seats, and tow haul mode. The only buttons that do not work are the cooled seats, and the heated wheel <--- which I have not installed yet.

Below is my factory wiring which seems to have all the wire need populated.

I wonder if it has something to do with not having the steering wheel installed. I have a hard time buying that as the heated seats work. I'm more inclined to think it is a code that needs to be added to enable that feature in the Computer. But then again Rick's worked without any codes...

I'm glad to see someone else having the issue with factory wiring. It validates that the wiring I put in place is ok.

Although comforting, I didnt buy them for heated function in Florida. I wonder whats needed. Any Tampa techs want a few bucks to add some codes to my truck, I will pay for time!

Hmm, I'm not sure what to make of that issue. I wouldn't be so surprised if you guys were the first attempt but Rick's seemed to work fine.

I'm actually close to pulling the trigger on a set myself so I should be able to add another data point at some point.

well dang.

There is a 6 pin harness under my driver seat that not connected to anything. Its likely for the memory options but its a small gray.

Just curious, Have you ever seen any settings in the BCM or HSCM for the vent function utilizing your Tool? I have the tool now but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. I know Rick put the buttons on his screen with it. Did he do that in the BCM or the radio itself?
