I want to keep the ever so slight rake of my quad cab. I've got 20k miles on the chassis, yet it feels like there are no shocks. It bounces like crazy. So new shocks is in the Priority column right now. It appears that it would be crazy to buy upgraded shocks to only replace them very soon.
I've looked at kits to drop 2/3 or 2/4, which in my opinion will put the bucket at level. Could I cut front & rear coils, one full loop, and go with aftermarket shocks? It looks like I can get BellTech or Ground Force shocks. From what I've read they seem to be the best.

Any help or comment is appreciated. My past suspension experience involved measuring the correct off-set to get the rear meats in the fender, or using a jack to stretch the sheet metal out just a bit.

Just grab a set of 2" front coils from Belltech, McGaughys, or Ground Force, and a set of rear 2" drop springs from McGaughys or Ground Force.

Ground Force sells shocks for both the 2" front drop and the 2" rear drop, so you should be able to get everything you need directly from them.

Thanks, I called the guys at McGaughys. They have a 2/2 kit. It's just springs, they say I can use OEM length shocks, so I'll pick out some new ones and spend the weekend getting my FUOD ride better.

No, I don't expect it to. My concern will be doing the swap can I use a spring compression tool, instead of completely disassembling the undercarriage. I've read couple DIY how to's. Nobody mentions renting a spring tool. I would expect it to cut the 6-8 hour task to 2-3 hours...

I did a bell tech 2/4 on my truck I didn't need a spring compression tool. the back spring literally falls out as soon as you take the bottom bolt of the rear shock out. With the front the tool might help a bit but it was still pretty ez to get the spring out. Also this was my 1st time doing any type of suspension work.
