How To: Install a 2018 4C (UAQ/UAS) Radio in 2013 - 2017 RAM

Any ideas on the "device not supported" message I'm getting everytime the radio powers up?


I updated from a factory 5.0 to a UAQ. Bought it new from Benny. Also did the 4 to 7 spd blower conversion as well as the single zone auto temp conversion. I added the sun sensor for atc harness and the 4 pin sun sensor. Everything went well except two issues.

I get a "device not supported" window everytime the radio powers up. It doesn't go away until you click ok. First I thought it was because I haven't installed the updated usb hub. So I did that tonight and no change. I still get the message. No phones paired. Nothing connected to the usb ports or aux. No fault codes in the radio either. Kinda disappointing after the money spent to get an in your face issue everytime the radio powers up. And you can't find out what device it's referring to either.

The other issue I have is a fault code in the HVAC. I don't recall the code but it's for the right side blend motor. It's setup for single zone ATC, so it shouldn't look for a passenger side blend motor. Fault only goes away if I revert back to single zone manual. Is this an expected fault that everyone gets? Would it effect the system operation? Any way to eliminate the fault?

Harnesses I bought from mp grimm. Everything else Chrysler, Benny.

Ezduzit23 has my UAQ, it is Part 68331631AJ and here is a screen shot of what it had when I sent it to him. I don’t know if he has done any other upgrades. I did the 22.6 along time ago:

I recently discovered that changing my units to metric makes it work just fine. But then I’m in KM and what not. I did the temp module to 2018 version upgrade and that changed nothing. Any thoughts? @ManualCummins suggested a software update to 22.6 which I will be doing next. I’m on 19.9 right now.

Where did you get the upgrade kit? Whose harness do you have? There some harnesses / kits that seem to have more problems than others.

My truck came with dual zone and 8.4 from the factory. I’m just upgrading to 4C. The only harness that I added was the infotainment harness to enable my heated and cooled seats in the menu on the radio.

I doubt an sw upgrade of the radio to v22.6 would help and don't recommend it as v19.9 is the better version imo.

If you have AlfaOBD, try this with you factory dual zone atc setup....


RESET YOUR HVAC Configuration:

Connect with AlfaOBD and set your truck (Ecu Config 3) HVAC Configuration to: Single Zone MTC

Then disconnect AlfaOBD, Shudown the truck, let it go to sleep… and pull the 20A inline Radio fuse near the brake booster at the firewall (2 minutes) to force a radio reset.


Next… Get back in and switch the truck to “run” without starting. Wait for UAQ to reset… it’s done when the SXM button appears and the Backup Camera works again. *** You must wait for the reset to finish before proceeding **

Check the HVAC on screen menu… it should show the Single Zone temp slider without the temp readout .


Next...

Set Dual Zone ATC:

Connect back up with AlfaOBD, HVAC Configuration back to: DUAL ZONE ATC

Then disconnect AlfaOBD, Shudown the truck, let it go to sleep… and pull the 20A inline Radio fuse near the brake booster at the firewall (2 minutes) to force a radio reset. (yes again)


Next… Get back in and switch the truck to “run” without starting. Wait for UAQ to reset… it’s done when the SXM button appears and the Backup Camera works again.

Check the HVAC on screen menu… it should show both Dual Zone ATC Temp sliders with the temp readouts.

You should now be back to your original factory dual zone ATC setup.

I’ll do that as well. I’m doing the change right now so if it doesn’t work I’ll unhook the infotainment harness and repeat. I’m running a new unit 68366553AA.

One thing I did notice was the actuator behind the glove box changed when I changed temp when it was on MTC. One other thing I thought was strange I noted in my original comment is it works like normal in dual ATC when I change the units to Metric.

Can you post your BCM settings? I know my HVAC contros freaked out when I had the CSMs for other measures/units (power units, temp unita, torque units, etc) turned on. After I turned all those off and only set the US/metric CSM my controls returned to normal.

Can you post your BCM settings? I know my HVAC contros freaked out when I had the CSMs for other measures/units (power units, temp unita, torque units, etc) turned on. After I turned all those off and only set the US/metric CSM my controls returned to normal.

Interesting, the 2013 BCM doesn't have a section for the "customer settings menu" options. Do you have the windows or Android version of AlfaOBD?
