I have a 2016 Dodge Ram 8.4, Can I put a 2020 Classic 8.4 in it? I know if it were to work I need a new media input but will the radio work in general?
Do you already have Dual Zone ATC climate?

Nope I have a big horn with no heated/cooled seats.

While the radio will work, you will need to 'Correctly' add single zone atc to correct HVAC Temp/Blend door issues you're very likely to have as well as swap out the USB Hub (req's adapt. harness) for AA/CP support... Hardest thing to get is a compatible 4c Panasonic radio.

That's the same conclusion I came to after wandering around their website. And even the CAN commands that you can send seem somewhat pre-defined.

No worries, I think the code we have is what is needed but it would have been nice to try some debugging ahead of time.

I'm trying to fix the heated seat issue with my 16 as well. The Auto Agent app does have the ability to send a can commend (that I can set) as well as frequency of occurrence. Would that work for sending the correct message to let the radio know the engine is on?

Anyone by chance have a spare module USB hub they want to part with for cheap? I ordered a Chrysler 200 hub back in June and it was supposed to be shipped by mid-August. Now they are saying mid-December at the earliest. I'm just looking for any 4C compatible hub to get me by until I can get my hands on the Chrysler 200 hub. I just won't install temporary hub in to console cutout until I get mine.

This will be somewhat long-winded, but I wanted to post an update on my installation on my 2015 Ram 3500 with hopes of this helping someone else or even getting some feedback for my own situation. My truck had VP4 nav radio with factory cargo camera along with reverse camera in mirror.

I ordered UAQ 4c Nav P/N 68461699Ax (for 2020 1500 Classic) radio, reverse camera re-route, the Chrysler 200 hub, hub conversion harness, Customtronix Enzo & Carlinkit Wireless CarPlay Adapter. (Note I previously had Customtronix jailbreak with harness on my VP4 for extra video inputs and other features so I was trying to keep as much of that functionality as possible.)

I first installed camera re-route and new radio to ensure I had all of that working. It took a few hours for the radio to "pickup" settings from truck. Until that happened, I had no audio and functionality was very limited. Once radio picked up settings and was mostly working, I checked heated seat buttons in radio. No dice on those including heated seats, heated steering wheel or vented seats. All buttons were greyed out. As I knew this was very much a real possibility, I proceeded with Customtronix Enzo installation which is supposed to help solve that issue.

Installation of the Enzo was fairly straightforward. I had it up and working fairly quickly. Not only that, my heated seats, steering wheel and vented seat buttons appeared to be working (more on that later). I should add that Customtronix would initially not even sale me the Enzo due to configuration of my truck. They said it 100% not compatible if you have reverse camera in mirror. I argued that I was installing reverse camera reroute and retrofitting with Panasonic UAQ radio. They still were persistant that it would not work due to signals from BCM / truck to the radio. So then it dawned on me to ask them what would happen if I turned off cargo cam via AlfaOBD (logic here is truck would then think the reverse camera is in the radio). They agreed that should work so we proceeded forward and they accepted my order.

I decided to install Enzo without first making any changes to BCM and I'm happy to report that all is working, including the additional video inputs Enzo provides (I reported this feedback to Customtronix and they think it works because of the UAQ retrofit). I have a front camera installed along with two additional video inputs I can make use of. I have used a Firestick or AppleTV on one of the additional inputs previously. I will add that the Enzo did not play nice with my existing HDMI to composite video converter, so I ordered the video converter Customtronix offers which should be delivered any day.

Up to this point, I have everything installed except the new Customtronix video converter and Chrysler 200 hub, which has been on backorder for many months. I was originally told it would be delivered by mid-August. Now they are estimating mid-December at best. I wanted the Chrysler hub so minimal modifications would have to be made to my center console. In the mean-time I ordered a cheap non-genuine Compass hub on eBay for $25. This thing damn near appears to be OEM. In fact, the part number is scratched off the plastic making me think it came from the OEM production line, but couldn't be sold that way (I really don't know). Anyways, got it installed and everything appears to be working including CarPlay. So until I find a Chrysler 200 hub, I've just got the hub conversion harness, Compass hub and wireless CarPlay adapter laying in my center console tray. Now onto issues that have risen...

My Panasonic radio came with firmware 34.5.0. I found via another forum here that 39.6 was the latest version and proceeded to "upgrade". Have no idea if it is related, but I have lost heated seats, steering wheel and vented seat buttons functionality. I know they were working at one point with 34.5 firmware, but can't confirm if that is what broke them. These buttons are fairly important to me as I don't have hard buttons since I have the auxiliary switch panel. Thus I have reached out to Customtronix for support (I have a fairly long history in dealing with these guys so they have allowed me test some of their products in the past and have provided excellent support). Without saying too much, they are sending me a different harness to try for testing purposes that will temporarily replace the Enzo. If my buttons come back, we can turn our focus to the Enzo to further troubleshoot. I should be receiving the harness Customtronix wants me to try later today.

I've also lost connection to CarPlay once thus far since I finished new hub installation about 24 hour ago, but I hoping that was just a rare anomaly related to the wireless adapter.

While I still don't have 100% functionality, but want to give a special thanks to everyone that has contributed to this thread with special thanks to @Mpgrimm2 for talking me through and making sense of most of it. Hopefully remaining issues (soft buttons) can be resolved soon.

Posting update to my previous post above, the other harness Customtronix sent me did not help with my soft buttons. Thus I proceeded to downgrade from firmware 39.6 to 39.5. Low and behold after a couple radio resets, the soft buttons came back! But here is the bad news, it was only temporary and they are greyed out again. :(

Hello,

I am upgrading my Harman VP4 radio to a Panasonic 4C-Nav on my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500.
I installed a UGQ (Europe) ref 68289301AH

I have a problem to connect the GPS antenna.
The colors and connectors are not identical between UAQ and UGQ.

Explication).png

What is the color correspondence for the GPS connection?
On the same location as on UAQ?

On my vehicle I have two cables:
- One white for the radio antenna
- One olive/green for the GPS

Thanks for your help

Just installed a 2018 non nav in my 17 2500. Everything works except my heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel. They are grayed out. Any ideas?

Are you tuned? How long have you waited (takes a few key cycles some times)

I installed an 18 non nav CarPlay unit in my 17. Everything works with the exception of my heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel. Those controls are grayed out. Any ideas?

Yes I’m tuned. I turned it on and off about 10 times
Tuning is your issue. You are most likely running a tune that was written on a pre 18 base file. Who's tunes are you running?

I just went through this myself

CTT tuning who is also out of business now
Yep, same issue I had. Are you running one of the older times. 2.x something? If so try and load the newest one they have, should be 4.2?

There is another possible fix that a member helped me with but requires a inline module to intercept the engine on signal and convert it. Not sure if he can make more though?

I’ll try it if there are any tunes availability still. Do you like the new tune? I like my current one and have had it for 4 years

The 4.x series of tunes isn't bad but the 2.x are still my favorites. You should have them available to download still? Give it is a try and see if it fixes the heated seat issue. I can't 100% say it will because I did not try those but they are much newer and hopefully were built off a 2018 base file. (I have 2 tune companies in my account and tried one of the others newer tunes and the seats worked.)
If you want to explore the other option let me know and I'll get you in contact with the guy that built the module for me and see if he can help.

I’ll try to update the tune first to even see if that’ll work. If it does, then yes I’ll get his contact and put it back to my current tune. Thank you

That fixed it. Installed 4.2. I’ll see if I like the new tune. Thank you very much. I was about ready to install my old radio back in

One more question, did you have any issues with your AC? Mine is definitely not as cold as it used to be
No I didn't. Can't imagine anything with the radio install affecting that?
