2 questions for you...
What is the actual PN of your UAx radio?

What is the application version of it from within dealer mode (this the "fw" version people need to refer to with the Panasonic radio s as refrenced by the Tsb's).

Note: there were Model Year 17.5 UAx radios in Cherokees, challengers & some other FCA brands but not Rams. Early testing with these radios was problematic, especially on pre v18.x App. Versions.

M² Mods.

Hope this is what you are looking for. Everything works now after the hub replacement.

So what happens if the new radio gets installed but isn't connected to the new media hub? Will there be errors or will it work at all? I understand that the USB functions won't work, but will the radio still work until the new media hub is installed and connected?

In my case the radio and everything else functioned fine with no errors. The usb would charge the phone but wouldn’t connect to radio for usb media or CarPlay. Once the hub is changed it all works. So no immediate need to change the hub, you will just not have car play. You can play media through Bluetooth until you get your hub changed out.

That (68306656) PN isn't one of the 2 USA ram UAx Radios listed in the Op and may be a reason why it didn't recognize the ram USB hub (driver difference perhaps). Do you know what vehicle line it came from?

Can you tell us what the application version is if the radio? 18.2 ; 19.9, 21.9 etc?

That part number matches up to 2018 JEEP Grand Cherokee UAx radios. That’s a good thing to know if that’s all you can find but it will cost you an extra $100 for the upgraded hub

I was told a 2017 Ram 1500. Where do I find the application version, is it different than the pic? I assume it’s possible that it came from a Ram that had upgraded it like we are all doing, if the P/N is a Jeep. The hub came from the same truck according to the salvage yard. I only paid $500 for the radio and $75 for the hub so I’m not complaining lol. A friend of a friend owns the yard and I asked him to keep an eye out for a UAQ, waited 4 months.

Yeah. As long as everything works can’t beat that price. I have seen a few of those radios for about $100-200 cheaper than the Ram UAx. Can’t beat it.

It’s also a good footnote. For others who can’t find an actual Ram UAx radio. They can use that part number also but they have to get the updated Hub for it to function. For media Apple car play.

This will help from the recent uConnect v21.9 update thread...

Fyi,
Dealer's just got issued TSB 08-113-18 to allow them to download/install v21.9 "application version" on 2018 UAx 8.4 Radios (not 13-17 8.4 radios, those are at 17.43.x).

Here's the actual TSB which won't help those of you that already have it OTA.View attachment 140035

PS: here's the other related thread...
Does 8.4 update actually affect unit sound output?.

M² Mods.

Hold temp up + temp down + front defrost buttons for 10 secs to get into dealer mode. Then you can check the "application version" to see what you have.

M² Mods.

It would probably be a good idea for everyone to start referencing the Application version (21.9) on the 2018 radios since that is what is identified by the TSB 08-008-18 (not SW version) the dealers, etc will use as reference for the OTA update. TSB 08-113-18 is the same just a downloadable update that the dealer can get.

M² Mods.

Yep. What Cstan said. Just trying to help keep the info clear for everyone.

I haven't gotten the OTA yet on my 2018 truck, maybe because I swapped the UAS radio or for the UAQ w/Nav. Fingers crossed on this one.

Ok so I was looking at the wrong screen for version info. Here you go. I guess OTA isn’t working for me but the WiFi for sure works. Strange!

125578F9-7D66-4093-BAD9-577BCEA59015.jpeg So is there a way to get the update file without the VIN of a vehicle with a UAQ? Has anyone downloaded and shared the file?

Ok. Your 18 Cherokee UAQ is on v18.13.

The nearest ram version is v18.18, then 19.9

I can see about getting you the 18.18 if you want.

Sure, so is there any documentation on what changes with each update or do they just push them out and that’s it.
I’m all for updating unless people have had problems with the 18.18. I’ve read about audio issues with one of the firmware versions can’t remember which one, think it was early in 2018.

v21.9 had the audio EQ issues. Supposedly all the 18 UAQ radios can use the same fw, but I won't guarantee the v18.18 will work/not have issues with that Cherokee radio, but it has been solid on everyone's so far.

Send me a pm with your email info and I will see if I can get you a link or I will need to get uploaded again.

I’m just guessing. It might work lol. You know you can always do a search online for a 2018 Jeep grand Cherokee and find one with a UAQ(they always have a picture online of the radio on and most that I’ve seen have it on the Nav screen lol) and pull the vin off the page online. It might work. It might not. Might be able to use it as a donor Vin lol.

A buddy of mine picked up a UAQ PN 68306656.(Grand Cherokee)

We put it in my truck and in his and neither would work with the standard media hub in either trucks. Both 2018.

We swapped the media hub in his truck with the dual USB port media hub and it worked flawlessly. His firmware is 19.9. I did a test install of my UAQ 68331631 in both trucks and it was plug and play and the original media hub 1 media usb 1 power usb works with no problem.

Must be a Radio driver issue that it can not sync with the stock media hub on Rams cause it’s designed for Grand Cherokee media hubs.

The 1 2018 Grand Cherokee I seen at the dealer the other day had the “upgraded” media hub that has dual media USB ports.

I now have my 2018 radio installed and working. Has anyone gotten the 4g WiFi working in an older truck? Is the modem in the radio or is it a remote unit? It shows as having 4G signal on the display, but when I try and connect to it- the SSID I set up doesn't show anywhere. I don't "need" it, but I kinda want it just because. Maybe it comes with the 2018 UConnect service that few have been able to get?

Looks beautiful, you must be very, very happy!!!!

Ok so what was the final verdict on our 2018 media hub that out trucks came with, the hub with usb icon on the right side? I see you have one for sale along with your ra2 and bezel. Did you have to change your hub to add the 68331631ah radio or was it the one from your buddies truck that's for sale?

I got it to work apparently. I haven't been in my truck much this week, but I was finally able to pull up the SSID and got my phone to pull up the ATT.com/fca landing page. It did show the old VIN number though. I'm not sure if it will work if/when it pulls in my VIN number or not. Might be worth it to someone to try if they want decent WiFi.

The USB hub is from my buddies truck. He upgraded to the same radio that CincyCuda68 upgraded too (UAQ 2018 Jeep GC). Mine works perfect without any issues with the original hub and 68331631AH(Ram radio).

Honestly I’m still getting use to the big screen lol it’s soooo much different then that small 5” lol

If you go into dealer mode/system information/Connectivity the radio will show you the IMEI number just like a phone. I’m just assuming here but I’m going to test it out by calling at&t and seeing if I can get it activated using that number instead of the Vin since my truck did not come with the UAQ.

IMO they should be able to activate services just with that number like they do with phones.
