Not bent out of shape.
Here are the details for my situation, hope it may help others.
I have a UAQ radio from a 2017 Ram. Installed in my 2018 2500 Tradesman.
Had to go back to the junkyard to get the media hub out of the truck that I removed the radio from as the Hub in my 2018 did NOT work for CarPlay. After installing the new media hub everything works.

The radio from the donor car was version 19 when installed, after installation it OTA updated to 26-00 and original hub did not work.

As of now everything works, OTA updates, WiFi hotspot, car play etc. I have not tried Uconnect as I’m not sure I would use any of that.

Opinion: Love the CarPlay but I liked the Nav better on the RA4, Also the limited Themes on the UAQ kind of stink but functionally the UAQ is much faster, backup cam and screen are way better resolution and the UAQ is immensely faster, switching between screens is way faster.

UAQ radio from a 2017 Ram?

That’s what the junkyard said it was, I didn’t look at anything except the radio. They pull the parts, wasn’t a pull and pay so I didn’t physically see the donor truck.

On the other issue, I misunderstood as you said driver issue, I took it as me not a usb driver. So I apologize. I don’t believe it to be the case though as the radio updated after installation.

Also is it typical for the WiFi hotspot and OTA updates to work, I thought (reading through this thread) that these options wouldn’t work along with uconnect? Not that it matters for myself as I wouldn’t use those features. I was just surprised I have wireless data (WiFi) through the radio.

Was the replacement hub a "plug and play"?

Yes in my case it was, since mine is a 2018 I did not need the harness from Mod2

That's great, I'm glad it worked for you. It must be nice to have a UAQ in there. Mine is a 2018 also, but only a 1500. When I saw the post you put up last night with the picture of the the the hub marked USB on the passenger side I knew that was the same one I had. Thanks for the info :)

I will be upgrading My RA2 to a UAQ sometime mid next week. Waiting on my UAQ to arrive in the mail and my 8.4 single zone bezel. And my harness from M2Mods. I will update once I install the UAQ about the media hub on a 1500. We will only know for sure once more people do this install on 2018’s and we have record of it

Sounds great, I'll be interested to see if your 2018 1500 hub works. Keep us posted please.

Will do. I’m not going to deal with returning the other hub if mine works fine. So I won’t order the new hub until I install the radio and find out if it works or not but the guy who has a hub is only one day shipping so I’ll be able to verify the new hub quickly if my stock hub is not compatible to the UAQ

You will love the UAQ and doing it with the correct bezel and 7 speed upgrade makes it look right. I don’t know what that goofy bezel with the radio shack volume knob from infotainment is, looks terrible.

I’m curious to find out if your hub works.

This might sound dumb but is the black plastic connector(smaller one) on the back of the UAQ used. Does anyone know what it is specifically for?

I like that comment about the volume knob from Radio Shack, lol. I read reviews where the aftermarket volume adjustment is really static sounding. OEM bezel and M2Mods adapter harness is the way to go!

2 questions for you...
What is the actual PN of your UAx radio?

What is the application version of it from within dealer mode (this the "fw" version people need to refer to with the Panasonic radio s as refrenced by the Tsb's).

Note: there were Model Year 17.5 UAx radios in Cherokees, challengers & some other FCA brands but not Rams. Early testing with these radios was problematic, especially on pre v18.x App. Versions.

M² Mods.

Stealing your picture to ask another question. Anyone know if you can order those colored clips? My radio was missing the mustard yellow one, so my plug doesn’t fit snugly. Also can anyone tell me what they all go to?
Thanks

What all gets connected on a laramie? I don’t have my 911 bypass connector hooked up and haven’t had any issues.

Are the pink and olive the same?

OK so here's my question for today. I upgraded from a RA nothing to a RA2 added a microphone, complete steering wheel controls and wired the rear camera input. right now I'm missing the compass feature but as soon as Deereguy makes me a harness I'll have homelink and a compass.

I only have white (antenna) and yellow (sat) Fakra factory connectors in my factory harness.
I would assume no purple (cellular)= no 911 and I don't care, but if I have no purple (GPS) what will give a signal to the NAV function of a UAQ? Am I missing the idea? Do I need to add something else or will the in a NAV UQ not ever work for me?

Seems the yellow also functions as gps. At least that’s what the pic above states

So what happens if the new radio gets installed but isn't connected to the new media hub? Will there be errors or will it work at all? I understand that the USB functions won't work, but will the radio still work until the new media hub is installed and connected?
