Thanks Mike, That's a relief. You are the MAN as always. :)

Me personally. I like the idea of only having one plug for media. Cause I don’t want my wife plugging her phone in and it trying to do Car play for both phones. She can charge hers and I can use mine for music messages nav.

It doesn’t matter which side it is plugged into. You will not be able to use car play or media via usb with the pictured hub.

Mike G will have to let us know.

I have the same hub but the side your cord is in is charge only. I will be doing the upgrade middle of next week and guess I will find out lol

Not correct, this hub does not work with UAQ, I will update tomorrow when I install the other hub

Well glad I’m not installing my radio until next week so I can get the other hub. Let us know how it goes

Like Paul said, the right side on that hub is charge/pwr only. You need to plug the phone into the one on the left.

M² Mods.

Can you verify this? I did my upgrade from RA4 to UAQ today and everything works fine except no response from the hub, either under media—>Usb or car play. On either port of the hub though it does charge.
I have the new hub coming tomorrow, hoping it will plug and play without a harness.
I will post tomorrow after I attemp to switch the hubs. I only posted that because everything I read seemed that all 2018 hubs would work. It is my belief that since I have an early production 2018 it may be a non car play hub.

My guess is that it is a 68328704AB, car play hub is 68328704AC but that is just speculation as I can find no info on the superceeded 68328704AB

If your truck is a 13-17 and you are trying to use its original hub, it won't work with the UAx radios.

Is your truck an early model 2018? Maybe they changed the hubs after start up to the dual usb. I can verify next week with my upgrade to a UAQ. My truck is a early August 2017(2018 model). That may be the problem. If it is then we can update the install. Trial and error.

I’m installing the 68328704AC tomorrow, I’ll update the post.
I had the same thought, I’m not sure if the production date of my truck but bought it in Feb. But my original post that not all 2018 media hubs will work with UAx still stands, I am positive that the one I have doesn’t work as I have the UAQ installed. The hub charges the phone but is not recognized by the radio in any way. It worked fine with RA4 and RA3. The current hub doesn’t even work with media—>usb or car play.

If you look at the sticker on your door you can get the production date off of your truck. Tells you everything.

MFR. will give you the month and the year

MDH. Will give you the month date hour

That's weird. DeereGuy tried one of those standard 18 hubs out previously and it worked for him in his 16 ram with the 18 UAx Radios before switching in addition to the Ram dual USB port & Cherokee Hub listed in the the OP.

View attachment 143913 Note on 2018 Ram media hub. I have a 2018 Ram 2500 that came with RA3. The media hub was not car play compatible. I’m not sure what the part number is as I haven’t swapped it yet. Notice the icons above the USB ports are different than the 68328704AC.

Just wanted to let you know in case you are looking in salvage yards.
I have a coworker that has a 2018 2500 tradesman that installed the UAS radio and the media port works for CarPlay. He did not swap hubs, and he has the same hub you have pictured. What is the part number for your hub you currently have? I’ll see if he’ll get the part number off his.

I'm putting my money on a driver issue.

I would first check to ensure the data cable for USB is actually plugged in on the back of the radio. If that looks good perform a factory reset on the radio. The last step would be to reflash the firmware with your current firmware level if available or the latest firmware if not.

I've had an RA3 do the same thing and the firmware flash fixed it. I had to plug directly into the back of the radio with an adapter cable to flash it without an operable hub (see below)...

Ok so here is the deal, I installed the new hub today and everything is working. So for all you arrogant know it alls, it will pain you to know that you are WRONG. The hub that came in my 2018 2500 is not compatible with car play. So not ALL 2018 hubs will work, for those of you looking in salvage yards.

The part number of the OEM hub that was in my truck ( from the factory) is 68322813AC. This hub does NOT work.
I replaced it with the 68328704AC today and boom everything works.

I wish people on these forums would check their ego, no one person has all the answers.

Not sure why you’re getting all bent out of shape? That is the same part number on my coworker’s truck and CarPlay works with it on his UAS radio. We’re not questioning you because we don’t believe you, it’s because we can take this information and compare it to figure out WHY it works for one person and doesn’t for the other.

You misunderstood, it's a technical term. Your new hub works because the radio has "drivers" for it already...

That's an excellent piece of information on the MDH. I've done autobody for forever and never knew that.

Thanks Paul
