I've been doing research on stroker kits for the Dodge 360 engines and found 408 (4" stroke) to be the most common approach. However, I also found 426 (4.18" stroke) kit from Hughes Engines. They advertise 9.87:1 to 10.45:1 compression ratios depending on combustion chamber size which sounds quite feasible for a daily driver (running 91 octane gas, if needed, is not a problem where I live).

For a rebuilt engine, 4.030" x 4.18" with an appropriate intake/cam/tune just sings a song of massive torque to me.

I'm just curious if anyone here has ever done such a build on a Magnum 360 while maintaining the fuel injection. Are there clearance issues that need to be addressed? More than likely I would have a (reputable) shop build this engine because my own ambition waaay exceeds my skill, LOL.

Or is it more practical overall to go with a 408 (4" stroke) build?

All comments are welcome, I'm a kindergarten-er but well-willing to learn. :guile-1:

P.S.: If it helps, I'm looking for maximum low-end power with respectable mid-range "get-up-and-go" for the occasional short-stretch pass. My truck is a daily driver with an automatic, so "top-end" is not very important.

The rod angle is pretty steep for the 418. I like the 408 much better.

The problem with doing any stroker in these trucks resides in the tuning: it's a compete ***** to do the tuning for it.

That being said, there are folks out there with the 426 stroker, just not many as only one company makes it (Hughes).

DD94 is spot on it all about the tuning, me I would not even mess with the SCT or the factory pcm. Megasquirt or something like that. I would also add a full return type fuel delivery system. Neither of these are cheap add about $3000+ to the price tag.

If I was not to build it myself the only place I would buy one from would be PIE. @ DD94 440 lol

The one PIE motor FI-408E NA kinda looks like Users specs, he is going to be making some nice hp/TQ out of his motor. Now I see why he like's the M1 4bbl its what they use on there 408's.

there is nothing wrong with a 408, plenty of power and torque

to the original post, is there a reason you want the 426 over the 408?

just curious is all
