I have an RA3 I just installed with software version 15.17.5 and I have NO Media icons. I can connect Bluetooth but have no USB or Aux as an option when I press the media button. Is this something I have to send to NAVREPAIR to have them update it? I triple checked connection and retried it with my 5.0 and it works fine. HELP!!!!!!!

You may not have seen it yet , I just posted it a few mins ago ..

This is a better place to ask though these guys are great !

So it works with the RA2 , you can update the software yourself , if the USB will recognize it ...

I see your posts over in the conversion thread also, and it looks like you have tried the obvious things. It sounds like you are sending the RA3 back for an exchange though.
Just a couple of quick questions.

- What is the year & PN of the RA3 you have? ( I haven't been tracking that info)

- Assuming you have the vin for the RA3, have you tried reflashing the RA3's firmware via the USB port?
(May not be recognized still)

- If that didn't work, I do see that NavRepair offers a separate service to activate the extra media menu options on the radio (USB, Aux, Sdcard, BT, etc) so there may be an common issue where the radio doesn't recognize the hub correctly.

i.e probably a radio issue. Keep us updated.

Am I loosing anything by staying with FW version 14.05.3? I just did my 8.4 swap last weekend and the radio currently has 14.05.3 loaded and everything works perfect. I'm a little nervous about updating it to a newer version as everything is working as it should now. Guess I'm trying to figure out what reason I would want to upgrade or if I'll be good just sticking with the current version.

If it's working your best bet is to let it be. You are missing a security patch.

I agree with sitkneelbend above , pretty sure the software update your missing is the one that was thrown together in a knee jerk reaction to the Hacking issue about ten months ago , if I remember correctly some had issues loosing a few features with certin radios post the latest security SW update.

Anyone happen to be dumping an 8.4 in the near future? I have a new to me 2015 Bighorn with ucoonect 5.0, but I miss the 8.4 and backup camera (need to install both, and my local ram dealer takes the short bus to work every day, so trying to avoid going to them for any necessary code adds...

Do you want to find out if it will accept a fw update now while you can possibly return it or later when you can't?

Tough call since it's working. What year and PN of RA4?

2013-2014 pn's seen to do fine, some 2015's have issues, but NavRepair seems to be able to straighten out the sw for some $$

2016 RA4's still seem to be a problem across the board.

Actually there are a few updates inbetween 14.05.3 and the security patch update. Most have found that for the MY 13 and 14 radios that 14.25.5, which was before the security update to be the most stable and successful update that useless connect put out.

Not sure how you would get this from uconnect, they only offer the latest and as others said the hack fix update caused allot of problems, but there have been newer updates since then. Many guys on here have the update saved on their PC though. Just for the heck of it run your donor vin on useless connect se what version it wants you to update to and read the release notes. If you are not having any of the above issues and any of the issues in the latest update notes, you may want to leave well enough alone. But like Mike said better to have it fail an update now while you can send it back than to have it happen later.

I have a copy of 14.25.5 for 2014 VP4_NA Ra4's hosted in post 3 for download that I got from another (reputable) member. Use at your own risk, make sure you have a correct 2014 PN Ra4 to match it.

I saw it come up during the update but I still do not have them. I have seen several 13 and 14 rams for sale on E bay that seem to have the interchangeable themes so I am wondering why it didn't work during my update. My screen still just has a brushed metal background. I am thinking about trying to reload the Firmware now that I have the RA4 code in my truck but not sure it would make any difference. Have any of you guys that installed a 13 or 14 RA4 been able to get the interchangeable themes after your update?

I did my 8.4 upgrade yesterday and I have a RA4 radio from a 2013 and I couldn't find an option to change background images/themes. Although the upgrade did change some of the colors on the screen. IE the volume indicator is now orange (I think it was green before).

I'm fairly certain that changeable themes was not an option until the 2015 radios.

I know originaly it was only offered on the 15 and up radios. I am curious because it actualy shows the skins update during the Firmware update. Also I am starting to see 13 and 14 Rams for sale and the seem to have different background logos on the radios. Just curious.

I think it was tied to higher trim levels on older trucks. If you factory reset it while installed in a lower trim, you lose the themes (I think)...
