I did check the signal of the Lin Bus CBC3 @ C-5 s socket 45 ( tapping into the Or/dkblue) while troubleshooting as follows : batt hooked up key fob not in ignition = 12vdc , fob in =12vdc , fob @ ACC= 10.5 for 9 seconds then back to 12vdc , running = same as previous 10.5 / 9 seconds then 12vdc , in Reverse 12 vdc no change .back to park 10.5 / 9 seconds then 12 vdc ?
Hot all the time ?
Also in any position if you provide ground to the circuit while it's @ 10.5 /12 vdc it immediately goes to ZERO , I MEAN IMMEDIATELY, Like a relay switching , not sure what this means ?

I have not had confirmation on the yellow/purple wire yet.

If u have a serial signal it may appear high all the time. Need an oscope really. Remember a Ground signal always wins.

Have you tried monitoring the C5/E-45 pin while turning the steering wheel and in reverse?

Wouldn't try grounding that signal to the Camera without disconnecting it from the bcm. May burn up the bcm. What is the - 45 signal when disconnected from bcm?

I did verify the C-5 /45 Signal in reverse and turning the wheel = 12vdc no change . I was looking for a change in voltage. ..or something ?

The -45 signal with the BCM disconnected. ... when I was doing that I was just checking continuity to socket #2 @ the camera plug and the main body harness, I never checked that signal while disconnected @ BCM to see if it was grounded , nor did I check it for pwr with the NEG reconnected

UConnect 8.4 Rear Camera Interface

Good morning I have been reading this thread going on two days now. The issue I have is with the dealerships! You can call one and get the oh you can only get the mirror version the next on you can get the tailgate version. etc.

Well doing some research on my own and not trusting the dealership I have found an item that seems to be much easier than the daunting task everyone on here is trying to accomplish.

UConnect 8.4 Rear Camera Interface[/B] Google that it comes up under OEM Company this looks much easier in my opinion and on that page is a link to the tailgate camera that is available to purchase as well.
If anyone already has one of these please let me know because I am looking to purchase one myself and want to know is it as easy as it seems??

IMO, I wouldn't recommend that overpriced setup over the official RAM option.
If you really need aftermarket like that, might as well go with a lockpick.
1) The OemAuto interface cable ALONE: $300
2) Requires an aftermarket camera: $270 (from OemAuto): TOTAL=$570
3) Despite the picture they post, I doubt the non-RAM camera will have the same active grid lines that move with the steering wheel since this doesn't tie into the Lin Bus CBC3 signal at the BCM. Personal decision/Trade-off.

4) The OemAuto setup may be plug and play, but doesn't offer the same features, and costs $100 to $300 more depending on who installs the RAM kit.

From Post 10:
- PN 82214240 (RA2, RA3, RA4 Radios as monitor)
$270 parts/$477 installed at my Berglund Dodge in Roanoke, VA (via their parts & accessories webpage, right now)

If you are having issues with mis-informed Service Advisors, go to the parts counter guy, have him pull up the RAM kit P/N above (for use with your RA2 radio??) and he can coordinate with the service dept to get it installed, likely cheaper, or find a better dealership. Feel free to download the install directions linked in post 10, read em over, and if you feel comfortable, install it yourself and save $200!

I will have a FULL BODY harness to do Rear Camera installs available in the near future. All you will need is the Camera/Handle, and the Tailgate Harness along with my harness and XAC flashed. Retail will be $125 and install will be 100x easier then the OEM kit.

Just like Jeepguy's setup then?

You have any other insights for RLK here?

#1 the yellow &purple wires in the OEM Kit harness are NOT connected electrically.

#2 with C-5 @ the BCM disconnected and NEG . Hooked back up there is NO VOLTAGE on socket 45 of the C-5 connector.

#3 with C-5 @ the BCM disconnected and NEG disconnected from the battery socket #45 is NOT connected to ground .

#4@ BCM C-5 (MALE PINS ) with NEG disconnected pin 45 for the Lin Bus CBC3 is NOT connected to Ground . ** Note ** the only PIN @C-5 that is connected to ground in the before mentioned scenario is pin # 6 , for what's that is worth
.
#5 @BCM C-5 disconnected NEG back on battery pin 45 sticking out of BCM HAS 12VDC .

Next I'll be running a solid wire from BCM socket #45 orange /dark Blue wire to the light blue wire inside tailgate @ camera socket #2 to see if I get the grid lines ... stay tuned .

This is going to be mass produced.
Cool.
I'm curious. Do you know if it will match the factory wire color codes, the Ram Add-On kit wire color codes, or something different?

I'm not sure how much the other harnesses, handle, and camera add to the cost, but to be competitive with the ram kit, it will need to total to less than $300.

Do you have AllMoparParts or similar on board to offer the other items as a package like before?

Basically it will be "loosely" based on the ram harness express/tradesman kit with improvements.

Update on troubleshooting not having the active grid lines .

I disconnected the ( purple wire ) from the orange /dk blue wire @ socket #45 in C-5 connector on the BCM , Hooked up the NEG on batt , started truck put in R and still had crystal clear backup cam video as expected .
Shut off eng. , disconnected NEG .
Installed a "T" tap in the OR/DK Blue wire @C-5 /45 on BCM , ran it back to the short 10 inch camera harness located in tailgate connected a 20 Guage wire with another" T" tap in the light blue wire going to socket #2 of the camera . Hooked back up NEG on batt , verified 12vdc @ camera socket #2 , disconnected NEG , reconnected camera plug , reconnected NEG , started truck shifted to R and ......wait for it .....wait for it ....... Still no Grid lines ??

At this point I'm convinced I'm missing the required signal on the Lin Bus CBC3 Wire from BCM s C-5 /45 OR/DKB wire to the clockspring ...? Not really sure on what to do next ?

@ Mpgrimm2, @Cuyler Tech,@ cptwing,

I've read several people within the forum and elsewhere say their dealer has told them they can only put the backup cam kit in the mirror not the radio display if their trucks originally came from the factory with the RA1 radio .

We know this has been proven wrong ,but we also know several others 2013+ Ram owners like myself have not been able to get the active grid lines to display on their (upgraded) RA2 s hmm mm ?

Maybe some 2013+ vehicles with the RA1 from factory and no back up cam really does not have a complete Lin Bus CBC3 Signal Wire from the BCM to the clockspring for a radio screen viewable back up cam preinstalled ? Just brainstorming here ...

With that said I wonder if the mirror harness connector behind the passenger air vent just below the right A pillar has a line bus CBC3 signal Wire there I could tap my purple wire from my OEM kit harness into for display of the active grid lines ??

I did a little digging on techauthortychrysler wire diagrams and found this : Mirror inside Rearview Circuit D402 Pin #1 is a linbus signal ( Lin Bus CBC2) Going up to the mirror.

I'm not clear what the Lin Bus CBC2 WIRE is for maybe a O/H console wire or other mirror function or Homelink or compass ??

7-30-15 NEW INFO. I read on the overhead console thread that the O/H console wires go up the drivers side piller through a green connector behind the headlight dial AND there is a Lin Bus CBC2 wire located there for home link function display on the evic , wonder what the Lin Bus CBC2 WIRE is for on the passenger side basically same location in the connector going to the mirrors harness connector ??

Could one of you guys. " Mpgrimm2, Cuyler Tech , cptwing " or some other smart guy look at this .
Question...
Could I splice a wire to my (purple wire Lin Bus CBC3 ) In my OEM Back up.camera kit harness run it to the Mirror inside Rearview connector located behind the passenger air vent and splice into the Lin Bus CBC2 Signal wire in socket #1 and get the grid lines to display on my RA2 radio screen ?

I currently have my purple Lin Bus CBC3 Signal Wire taped back into the kit harness " unattached " and the orange/dk blue remended and reinstalled in socket #45 /C-5 @BCM . And I still have a crystal clear video image on my RA2 5.0 Screen . Obviously I have no active grid lines on my display...

@RLK,
I wouldn't count on all Lin Bus signals being the same ie CBC3 & CBC2.

We've already talked about out it but your Options are likely down to..
Radio swap with another ra2
Radio sw update
Dealership TSing.( bad bcm or steering control module?)
