@RLK,
I wouldn't count on all Lin Bus signals being the same ie CBC3 & CBC2.

We've already talked about out it but your Options are likely down to..
Radio swap with another ra2
Radio sw update
Dealership TSing.( bad bcm or steering control module?)

Sent from my LG G4 on Tapatalk.

I agree with Mpgrimm2

I would see if anyone will let you swap out their RA2 and above and see if that will work for you. Purchasing another and finding out it does not work will be an expensive no grids.

If you can possily get an update for your radio that might fix the issue also

I know its frustrating issue as it should work!!!!!

Update * the dealer installed the new camera and it still doesn't work. They say they need to check the wiring but you guys checked all the wiring for me and confirmed that it is correct. What else could be the problem now?

gjimenez just wondering are you get a check your surroundings warning when you put it in reverse. You said you have checked all wiring and it is correct. Did the dealership check the fuse in PDC. Even if they say they did and all you are getting is a blue screen after check the fuse in the PDC and see if it is blown. I went thru this over a three day period just a couple weeks ago and happened to check fuse and it was blown. You said you have checked all wiring and it is correct. Did the dealership check the fuse in PDC.

Hope this helps you.

I do want to temp install another RA2 or above just to see if it will work ( finding someone local (near Bristol , Tn.) to let me may be difficult.

I could purchase one and just resale ...

I have verified my RA2 had grid lines on the previous vehicle .... the unit set un powered for a few months before I got it . Wouldn't think it would loose functions being unpowered ? Not sure though ?

My RA2 is available for a software update, I don't think that would matter because 2013 trucks from the factory had gridlines with the same or older updates? I've also heard here on the forum some have had issues with the latest 2014 software . I do plan on updating to see if this helps .

Thanks for your concern piper , this is frustrating, but not so bad not having the grid lines , I still use the backup cam all the time and the main reason I installed it was to easily hook up to my boat w/o jumping out and back in and so on ...
I do think the problem is with the trucks BCM or beyond , not sure yet . I know the OEM Kit is installed correctly, it is a pretty simple and straight fwd install .
I HOPE MY ISSUE " NO ACTIVE GRID LINES " DOES NOT DISCOURAGE OTHERS FROM THIS KIT !!

TO ALL READING OF MY ISSUE OF ( NO ACTIVE GRID LINES ) being displayed on my radio , from the OEM Backup Camera Kit .
Please understand this : the issue is NOT the kit or the kits harness ! I have proven that more than once .

This is a good kit and has worked perfectly for many .

This kit is easy to install with pretty good instructions.
If you can solder two wires remove and install the tailgate handle and your radio , plug and play 3 ea harnesses and route the long harness alongside the factory tailgate lock harness and install zip ties you are qualified! !

I'd rate this as a 4 out of 10 on difficulty for an average DIY er .

Definitely check your 10 amp fuse in the PDC !
As far as your wires go , the C1 connector on the radio is good . The connector under your dash you originally populated incorrectly , I'm not 100% on , verify yours with mine ( pics below ) it's orientated with the lock up . Also make sure the 3 wire radio harness (under the dash ) make sure the shield , grey /or and grey/blue are lined up with those same color wires on the other side of the connector . The factory radio harnes could have the video wires swapped .

I don't remember seeing your BCM C-5 Connector orange /dk blue splice Or your red pwr wire splie and black ground @ the PDC ( been a while )

Other than that make sure your tailgate locks are in locations 7&8 in the back of your long harness .

Remember we wer thinking you may have damaged the signal in your radio due to you populating the connector under your dash incorrectly the first time

. Double check all wires are correct before showing back up @ the dealer cause there's no way they will warranty your 8.4" radio if they find something wrong...

RLK, I think I remember you earlier talking about cams with different parts #'s and maybe attributing that to the issue. I have put my old cam on the new truck with the Mopar harness and I still don't have the lines. I don't really care but I thought I'd let you know. It may be the cams themselves.

Do you have the backup lines at all with either camera using the mopar harness?

You said it was working before right?
Mopar kit went in without issue.

Piper said the lines work on his truck with the Mopar kit

I thought you didn't have lines on your old truck , but you did on the new with the OEM KIT ?

I actually swapped cameras with a buddy of mine the other day , my cam p/n is an AH , his was an AG ( last digits )
I still had no lines with either , he had the lines in his mirror with both cams , his truck came with the RA1 with the b/u cam in the mirror .

I haven't had the lines on either truck. I don't really care about them which is why I said the kit went in fine with the OEM harness. I had already put the old camera and tailgate stuff in there and wasn't going to swap it all out again. All the new stuff is sitting wrapped up on the table still. lol

Did you splice the purple wire from the kit to the BCM C-5 /# 45 orange /dk blue wire ?

Has anyone reading this installed the tailgate B/U cam in the mirror ? If so where did you attach to the BCM signal ? Was this a simple pnp @ the connector behind the passenger air vent ? If so I'd assume the lin bus CBC2 wire there @[ socket #1 I think] is the wire responsible for grid lines because it's the only Lin Bus wire to that connector ?

Does anyone have the instructions to install the OEM MIRROR DISPLAYED B/U CAM KIT ?

I'm trying to find a different place to tap into the Lin Bus (CBC3) Signal to generate active grid lines for my OEM B/U cam kit displayed on my RA2 Radio... Thanks for a response .

Rlk,
Both cameras tap the cbc3 wire i believe. Im fairly certain they use the same chassis harness in both Kits but pull the power at different locations.

Post 10 had the directions linked.
See schematic.

No idea, dealer put it in. If it's in the instructions, they did it. My Viper tech did it for me as he knew how pissed off I was about the situation

It seems to me that many of the dealerships are not making sure this works 100% (ie with lines) when they do an install. If it had video,it must be ok?!?

MTGTS, is 2 for 2 with no lines now.

Now I'm wondering if the sales codes aren't being done 100% correct on some vehicles, but i would think it wouldn't work at all.

I have a full sales code list and my SLT build sheet (no cam in truck originally) i will post once i get home this weekend. Maybe we can catch something.

There is only 1 sales code to activate the camera, XAC, there is not a separate one for the backup lines

That's what i thought too but seeing these folks that don't have the lines makes me second guess it.
