You're supposed to be able to but my camera doesn't give me the option, almost like it doesn't detect that they're available

That's really weird do you have the option where you can delay the backup cam?

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been really hectic, unfortunately, I never made it to the dealer to have them fix the line problem (or lack thereof) but I have grown used to not having lines and honestly kind of like it. I use the camera mainly for hooking up trailers and backing into parking spaces so they aren't really necessary and I like just being able to see!

I went a few weeks without the active gridlines , then I found my RA2 simply required a software update LOL.

Can't remember I've I asked you this in the past but in your radio safety settings there should be an option to turn Active Gridlines ON / OFF .
I'm assuming you've tried this ?

☆☆☆☆Edit☆☆☆☆
LOL I was late on that one LOL

That's the problem, under my camera settings, I don't have that option, just the delay option. I'm waiting to see if it needs another update

Or is there a problem with that wire that goes to the bcm for the gridlines?

According to the uconnect update site, the only update available is The Siri update, even though I already did that one.

I went back and read our original discussion .

The purple wire at the BCM C-5 Connector labeled (E) should be verified it's in socket #45 .

Next pull the connector and verify there is a pin coming out of the BCM @ # 45 .

Next go to the tailgate here .

Now go to the underside here , and make sure all 8 wires are seated good ( both sides ) especially the purple one .

Next remove the large panel on tailgate , accessible when the gate is down , check the other connector inside near the camera for all wires being seated and in good shape .
If I remember correctly the purple wire is a tiny 22awg light blue wire inside the tailgate .

Hop this helps !

You've done the Siri firmware update?

I've heard lots of folks say that update has jacked up their radios ... how's Siri working for you ?

I actually don't use Siri, hardly at all, but haven't had a problem with it.

@Ktstull This is your previously posted picture of your purple wire .

Can't believe I didn't see this before !

See the orange/dark blue wire just above where your purple wire is inserted into the BCM C-5 connector , I believe the purple wire is supposed to be spliced into that wire !

The instructions clearly state to insert the purple wire into the BCM C-5 connector at socket #45 , it also states if this socket is already populated to solder splice the purple wire into the Orange / Dark Blue wire ....

I've installed several of these kits and everyone I've done I had to solder splice the purple to the orange & dk blue wire ?

Some trucks are a bit different @ the PDC and at the tailgate lock but all the ones I've done there was already an Or/DB wire @ socket #45 of the BCM C-5 connector. It's a bit tough to get in there to perform a good solder splice , but I've always had to splice the purple to the OR/DB wire .

Hope this helps !

Is soldering a must or can I use a splice to join them?

You can use a scotch lock or other type of non solder splice method but make sure it is securely installed and has a good connection.

Absolutely, scotch lock or "t" splice would be fine , solder is best and less likely to fail imo .

If you use a non soldered splice just remember it , so a year or 5 down the road if the Gridlines disappear you'll know where to start your troubleshooting

Has anyone used this kind of connector to splice them together?

Yes that is what a lot of people use but as RLK said if you have issues with the Grid Lines in the future that is the first place to look. Make sure you have the wires in all of the way and you buy one for the correct Guage wire. Make sure it locks into place when you install it.

Do you happen to know what gauge wire the BCM uses?
