So, I just left the dealership. I fried the radio.
Damn !

Good news is you can use an RA2 , RA3 or RA4 from any 2013 - 2015 Ram truck .
RA3 & RA4 require a (M2Mods conversion harness ) , bezel & HVAC module , 911 delete plug & maybe a resistor depending on what speed blower you have now ( 7 or 4 speed ) pretty simple upgrade to install to get the 8.4" radio imo !

However any 13 -15 verified Ram RA2/VP2 5.0" uconnect radio will plug n play and can be found for $150 or less .

I want to do the upgrade, but funds are low right now. I can't find one on eBay cheaper then $250. Where can I get one for $150?

Not sure if RLK still has his RA2. If not, PM me. I've still got mine sitting in my garage.

Is there an alternate place to tap into the LIN bus signal for the backup camera? Pin 45 on my BCM connector is populated and I don't want to risk damaging anything trying to make that splice in such a limited space. This is a 2014 Express CC.

I believe there is , if you have a QC /CC .
I do not remember the details but I think the wire is located under the entry scuff plate on the floor between the B & C pillars . It's posted in this thread somewhere . I think it's the wire for the CHSML cam .
Anyway , I suppose since the BCM C-5 / 45 is located inside the cabin out of the elements you could just snap on a "T" tap ....I highly suggest to solder the wire for the best long term connection, but this wire is only for the active gridlines ....the camera works just fine without this hooked up , besides if you ever lost the grid lines you would know where to start your troubleshooting

Thanks my friend , but I no longer have my RA2 , I've done the upgrade to a 2015 RA4 8.4NA and I sold my RA2 .

Check out this post

There are links to the CHSML schematics there , you should be able to use this alternative location for the grid lines .

I doubt there would be a better place or definitely not one close enough to use, but ...

On the 2500/3500's there is a spliced wire for the Lin Bus CBC 3 signal that also goes up to the 3rd brake light (chmsl) camera. I doubt it will be useful to you up in the headliner. I'm not sure of the wiring path for it either. Someone else might know.

@DannyMk2

Did you ever have any luck getting the active grid lines enabled with the OBDgenie after you verified the Lin Bus CBC 3 wiring from the BCM C5/E-45 all the way to camera?

hey sorry to jump into end of this tread, but I have an 13 outdoorman, with locking tailgate. I have 8,4 radio with navigation, I took tail gate cover off yesterday when I put bedrug on. I opened panel on tailgate and could clearly get to tailgate lock assembly. how can I confirm that the wiring for the oem camera is present?
is there anyway to confirm its working before getting dealer to add code to radio?

Go to post 10 and read the install directions as a place to start. There are also links there to the 4 Connectors you need to check for existing wiring.

Thanks for all your help guys. I received my new radio and everything is working great now. Jcarden10 hooked me up with a great price and super fast shipping.

Ok so I have a simple question, where am I splicing the purple wire to for the grid lines? I have the infotainment wiring harness and only had to run the power and ground to get the camera working. I'm guessing it's just a signal line. Any help is appreciated. I tried going through all the replies, but didn't find any solid answer.

I have a similar question, I got everything except the purple wire hooked up due to it getting late and the wire it needs to tap into being so hard to get to.

If I don't hook up the purple wire will the camera still work just with out the grid lines?

The purple wire splices into one of the wires at the BCM. If you read through the first few posts, there should be references to later posts with pictures.

Yes. I spliced the purple wire per the directions, but still don't have grid lines, so there's no guarantee adding that wire will add the gridlines. I used the AE tool to activate my camera, so that may be the reasoning behind it, but I believe I have seen someone post they had the dealer activate the camera and still no gridlines. I've yet to find an answer as to why some have them and some don't.

I only have the wiring harness hat was supplied, the ground and the power lines for the camera. I'm just not sure if I'm splicing a power wire to the BCM or looking for a signal wire on the wiring harness itself to splice to the BCM.
