2020 Limited....$1600 per year w/$500 deductible.

This is in Kentucky, we paid less than that for two vehicles back in NYS. We were told it's because of the possibility of hail, tornados, etc. which sounded like BS.

of course, my wife having several accidents just driving alone doesn't help.

Ahhhh, my old stomping grounds...and fully explains the low rates, too!

I've spent a good portion of my life in and around Renfrew County (Barry's Bay, Eganville, Pembroke, Petawawa, etc.).

I used to travel to communications sites in that neck of the woods back in the mid/late '80s.
Carp, Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke and Chalk River all had microwave sites that required PM and fault corrections.

Just yesterday, I mentioned to a friend about stopping on the main road in downtown Renfrew to wait for 2 farmers who had stopped in opposing lanes for a powwow.

I would suspect that area is a bit busier now.

It is a bit busier, yes, especially in Renfrew.

But it's still "The Valley" and the locals are still on that time-zone mentality, especially in Pembroke and Barry's Bay :)

It depends on where you live. Where im at has 2-3 million people so more people more accidents . More $$$$. My buddy lives in Poe dunk Ok. He pays the same every 6mo. That I pay every mo. We’re the same age & both have 3 vehicles. I’ve got 2 trucks 1 car. He’s got 1car 1 suv 1 truck. (Poe dunk is not really the name of his town.) also the population where he’s at is less than a 100,000

My 2021 RAM 1500 Laramie 4WD Quad Cab is $860/year with $500K/$100K, $500 collision deductible, $250 comprehensive deductible and towing coverage. I decline uninsured coverage. (I do have an umbrella policy for all my property that takes coverage higher, with a separate premium). Also, it's low mileage (pleasure - 7500 miles/year).
Why would you decline to have uninsured/underinsured coverage? Do you not know that if you were to get in a wreck with a person who only had state minimum coverage or no insurance coverage you could/would be screwed royal by not having that coverage?

I'm skeptical of the "Dodge" thing because when ever the subject has come up in the past, F-150 insurance was more because of the cost of repairing/replacing aluminum body parts.

I was at $707 per year with my previous insurance company, and then they upped me to $770. Offered a deal with GIECO, which I took, but GIECO has raised my insurance for each six month period. Now at $916. Still cheaper than what I hear others are paying. Of course, my truck is now seven years old and depreciated.

Lol, "po dunk town" because it's less than 100k people. 100k would be the 3rd largest city here in NE, that would be a metropolis as far as I'm concerned. Obviously Omaha and Lincoln are the only real cities, but 30k is a large town by our standards.

The full coverage on my newly purchased Ram Tradesman is more than $3,500 / year! Does this sound right to y’all?

Thats almost what we pay for three vehicles!

But like everyone has said price depends on many factors.

Shop around and get some quotes.

WHERE you are in Texas matters a lot. If you’re in Harris County…or DAllas/FtWorth…San Antone….or Harlengen/McAllen (theft risk)….sounds as if you might be)…then that’s not too far different than what my bro-in-law pays for his 2016 in Katy area.

I had a 2012 Tradesman in a rural, central Tx county… full coverage w/$1K deductible (and $100K Liability…not the Tx-minimum $25K) was $1600/yr…. and my wife and I had 3 wrecks in 5 years and a full hail-damage event previous to add to the risk. State Farm.
I recently moved from Harris County (inside the loop in the Heights) to Brazoria County (south of Pearland) and our insurance did not change. That being said, we pay through the nose. My wife has a 2025 Mercedes GLC 300, I have a 2024 Frontier, and our daughter (turns 25 in November) has a 2022 Mini Cooper Clubman S. We have full coverage, $500 deductible, rental reimbursement, uninsured/underinsured, $100k/$300k coverage on all 3. 1 Ticket between the 3 of us in the last 7 years, we pay $3200/6 months. It is ridiculous. All 3 of them are within $100 of each other. We checked multiple carriers to try to switch it out, but my wife had 2 no-fault accidents within a year (one with an illegal with no insurance in a truck that hadnt been registered in 6 years) and one in a parking garage that the girl disputed and it is still pending (3 years ago). No one would offer coverage because of the pending claim. And the guy with no insurance and truck with 6 year old expired tags was written a ticket and sent back on the road in the same truck by HPD.

$2100/year, $2M third party liability, 500 deductible. 15 year + without a ticket or at-fault accident.

This is a renewal offer: I haven't shopped around yet.

Alberta is supposed to switch to a no-fault insurance system (no more ambulance chasers) in 2027 and join the rest of the Eastern provinces.

We are in the same boat.
Had hail damage to my truck and my wife's.
Tried getting other quotes but they said no because of two claims 1 year ago.

Seeing folks here posting about having various "incidents" involving their vehicles, incidents that probably help to account for relatively high insurance premiums.

I remember calling my homeowners insurance co. years ago about water damage from a bad pipe, the kind of thing we were covered for. During the initial phone conversation I asked if our rates would go up, and how much. Well, the amount of the increase and the duration would add up to the amount of the claim.
I said, "So this isn't 'insurance', it's a loan." They hemmed and hawwed but would not deny my point. So I paid out of pocket for the damage, making sure the contractor knew I was paying out of pocket and please keep the bill reasonable.
And my premiums were not effected.

My life lesson - auto/home coverage is NOT what I consider 'insurance' it is a guaranteed loan in the event I ever needed it. I have medical insurance, and neither my out-of-pocket nor my premium nor my coverage change/increase when I have a claim. Not ever. That's what I call insurance.

I get that my thoughts reflect an apples/oranges comparison, just my $0.02.

Here ends today's sermon from your uncle curmudgeon. :hahano:

Mine is not cheap either. I just got my renewal for the year. I get a discount for paying the whole year too.

$1700 a year for my 2022 RAM.

No accidents, stored in a garage, commute to work 90% of the time, maxed out limits and $500 deductible.

I thought eventually when I hit a certain age I would get a discount. But I never have. Every year it's always more.

The house always wins.

I provided my own discount by shopping around, and found better insurance at a substantial discount. They also locked our premiums for 5 years if there are no changes to our policy, or major events. I guess I'll see.

……..
So I paid out of pocket for the damage,
……So… You actually PAID for insurance…You did not use. That is the most expensive “insurance” you’ll ever own.

I’ve had TWO flooding events in the last 8 years… one from a roof which blew off in a rainstorm…and another two years later when a pipe burst.

The damages were $300K and $120K …. on a house insured for $500.

My premiums went up also…. and I consider that reasonable… because the 80-yr old house was improved with more modern materials in the repairs and therefore requires a new appraisal so the ins-co can consider their Risk.

Our premiums went from $3200/yr to $3800/yr. So what.

I’m always a bit puzzled when people carry insurance they never make a claim on for fear of a small-percent increase in premiums.
