When I purchased my 2019 3500 Laramie dually new in Jan 2020, full coverage 6 month premium was $450. I have a clean driving record and also have my house insured with the same State Farm agent. My premium now is about $400
Unfortunately State Farm was a fail to me, not low enough to bother switching over for a few bucks.

As a Canuck, I would battle for rates as low as what my US family pays...lol
I have 33 years of driving experience and a spotless drivers license & insurance record, and I currently pay $271/monthly for my 19' 1500.

I have every single top up and extra coverage one can get because of the clowns driving here (insured and uninsured).

In Ontario, Canada ones rates are based on ones postal code. I guess I should be thankful though I live where I do because Brampton, Ontario has the highest insurance rates in Ontario and Canada (look up this area and it'll likely become apparent why...).

Everything is expensive in Brampton, you could probably blame some of that on your Mayor, Patrick Brown ...
I'm in eastern Ontario and have full coverage on my 2020 Longhorn and I only pay $89.75 per month, and that's with a $500 deductible on All Perils ... I went through the Costco Insurance agent and received a great rate from them ... My wife pays a bit more for her 2018 Kia Forte, but then again, I've been driving a lot longer than she has ...
If you are a Costco member it might be worth a try, even to the Americans on here if it is offered in the U.S. ...

In Saskatchewan, Canada, on my 2014 Ram it has stayed about $1100-1300/ yr since new, I get a 25% discount for no claims for yrs.
That’s insurance and registration ($68) yearly
You have to buy full insurance , unless it’s a collector car, then it’s cheap, but no coverage for damage
My motorcycle use to about $100 but meny yrs ago, I am not sure what the kids pay these days
New drivers pay more, but not as much as some places, Alberta use to be bad, not sure these days

Get a liability umbrella policy of 1Million for less than $250 per year and lower your liability limits on your car ins as low possible.

Read the terms of your umbrella policy. All of them have minimum coverage requirements for your primary policy. They aren't going to beat them at their game.

Example:
Geico: GEICO requires a minimum bodily injury limit of $300,000/$300,000 and a property damage limit of $100,000 or $250,000/$500,000 and a property damage limit of $100,000 on your auto policy to qualify for an umbrella policy. Homeowners/Renters Personal Liability coverage of $300,000 is also required. Contact us to receive a quote for increased auto insurance limits.

Everything is expensive these days but insurance is getting crazy for good drivers, in NY with a clean record currently paying $668 every 6 months and that is with multiple policies bundled with Allstate, a 2022 ram classic tradesman crew cab standard box 4x4 5.7L curious if other states are going nuts as well. My Tahoe that gets driven 2,000 miles a year in the winter is about $45 less. FULL COVERAGE.
I have NJM (nj) 2019 ram, full, my wife's 2014 cx5 full, and pay about 1800 for six months, however, we only pay 9 months out of the year.. I was in an accident last year, hit head on.. totaled my 2014 ram, and my rates went up this year.. I would saybin part due to the **** show we have going on currently, but also the accident that wasn't my fault, at all... still cheaper than the other companies I can go with in NJ, but getting more expensive.. kind of annoying..

Last December I moved from Wayne Co. to Oakland County. My insurance company sent me a check for $250. Come April renewal time I got a bill with an increase of $400. Talk about a racket.
Before I moved I sold my 2014 H-D Limited, thought I’d get a refund of 4 months coverage. Nope! They sent me a bill for $51.

I've heard your rate can also be affected by your credit score?

Correct. Actuarial charts set rates, and one of the things they use as a metric for your responsibility vs risk taking behavior is your credit score. They know it doesn't apply to every given individual, but across large chunks of the population they see a correlation so they use it.

My friend has gieco and is a very good driver, he got into one accident and seeing how that claim went I don’t think I would ever choose them, they made his truck get a junk yard bed and cut the good half off to fix the truck lol…and dropped his work van coverage for whatever reason.

Everybody has an experience. A lot depends on the adjuster and/or agent. Across large numbers of claims, I stand by Geico being one of the most likely to do you right but ANY of them can and will attempt to screw you on occasion.

I pay $376 a month for three vehicles and two RVs through state farm. I'm happy, especially after reading some of these posts.

$407 for six months with Geico. Had been with Allstate for years, but the rates were going through the roof. Finally checked with Geico and ended up with better coverage for about one third the cost.

I have sadly had to go thru a few geico claims, 1 at fault and 2 not. My experience has been good. They give a estimate based on pictures that was low every time but they let us choose our body shop and end up paying the shop what is needed to fix it right. Our rates went up after the at fault accident but that is to be expected.

Another thing in dealing with insurance companies is that a lot of times they will do everything they can to get out of paying a claim. A friend of mine used to work as an investigator for insurance companies and he was telling me how they will frequently find some small discrepency with informaition provided by the client, like number of miles driven to work and then use that as a basis for refusing the claim. Like say you travel 12 miles every day to work but on the application it says under 10 miles a day to get a lower premium. The insurance salesman might even give you a wink and a nod at the time of the application, but then when it is time for a claim, the insurance company will dump the whole thing and refuse to pay, even though they have collected premiums on the policy for years.

I was paying about 255/month for liberty mutual for full coverage, 500/500 deductibles, forget what the other coverages are. My policy was set to renew in about 2 weeks. My policy is going up to almost 335/month with zero changes and zero accidents. I looked at a policy through Plymouth rock and their payments were less than $200/month with far better coverages. That was with my truck and my wife's car on the policy plus renters insurance.
