Hello. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Driving during rain this morning, starting getting a significant amount of water coming out of the hand hold on the ceiling, through these little access caps? Any idea how it’s getting in? Everything looks ok from the outside. Thanks

A lot of guys, myself included have the third brake light leaking due to a poor seal. You can try there first, as it could be moving there and coming out. However I am not entirely sure as my headliner got wet in the rear, not the front.

Had that problem before. I've seen other threads just like this one and posted the same response. Happened to me once, in FL after a monsoon weekend of rain. Dealer replaced 3rd brake light, found no water. That was the only time, no mold, no moldy smell. No problems since.

Thanks guys, I’ll take a better look. Yes, I do have a sunroof, but the seals look ok, doesn’t mean they are though I guess. Thanks again.

Have you change your windshield recently? Or like others have said it could be the sunroof, not necessarily the seals but the actual drain hoses for it that run down the pillar. Im not sure if the third brake light leaking would travel all the way to the front grab handle, it normally gets soaked up by the headliner pretty quick.

A few times. One it was a bad weld on the roof. The third break light has been another cause of my issues. Others have had windshield and sunroof issues as a cause.

Krally - I am having this same problem (again) in exact same location but above plastic where it meets the now soaking wet stained roof liner (driver side hand grab) . First time I took it to dealer and they indicated it was a clogged drain tube in sunroof. It happened again this summer and stopped for a while. Happened again today in very heavy rain. This is my third time dealing with this and concerned about the water building up behind/inside panel and cabin. Gonna bring it in for service again with my growing list of recalls. It's a shame they can't sort out these little issues cause I really love this truck.

RAMCARES please help!

As stated, that's where the drain tubes are. They could be clogged or damaged...

Thanks for the thread post Krally. I have the same issue as you Krally, only on the passenger side post. Finally got some good rain in SoCal and now the leak showed up. I have a sunroof too, no windshield replacement or anything like that. I will be contacting my dealer to get this resolved, hopefully!

So, for after nearly two +years I finally have this intermittent roof leak resolved hopefully once and for all. Turns out after too numerous troubleshooting visits to my dealer, the last visit determined the sunroof was in fact defective. My case was well documented on this site and with FCA when it first started at around 20k miles, I now have 50k. Thankfully FCA agreed to replace at no cost and make it right.

Many times is the sunroof drains that get clogged up or the tube comes loose from the drain. Also many times i have seen were the seal on the actual glass does not fully seal when closed. Worn/distorted seal. At work mostly i have seen the glass needing to be adjusted (raised up some). I had a 14 qc with no sun roof that the passenger grab handle leaked only going thru carwashes. Replaced the roof belt molding and leak went away.

Sounds like the best way to stop a leak is to not get a sunroof in first place - when I was shopping it was hard to find a high end 1500 without a sunroof! I hardly use it anyway and it actually limits my headroom.

Dpressed1 in your opinion is it better to use it or just keep it closed permanently? Getting mixed responses to this question.

Well ill put it this way, sunroof glass is held in the track by four small screws in each corner that can be adjusted up and down. When the glass opens and closes, it has some tension when it slides away from roof metal and then when it closes back in place for it to seal. So with time the glass will start getting pushed inward with use, mostly from the rear, wich is normal. But will cause leaks if not adjusted. If the sunroof will not be used and always stay closed, its a good idea to keep the glass clean from outside so debris/dirt wont build up and crack/dry rot the rubber seal. Maybe not the specific answer to tour question, but thats my 2 cents.
