I've always bought used in the past. I've never bought from a dealership and this is my first new vehicle. I figured it was finally time to upgrade my 1998 Ford Explorer. ;)

I bought it a week ago today and it was supposed to be transferred from another dealership with an ETA of last Monday. As of today it's still not even on the trailer to head over this way. Is this normal? How long do I normally have to wait for a dealer transfer? How should I deal with the dealership on this issue?

I don't know the whole situation or what part of the country you are from. Weather, Holidays and an over aggressive sales person cold be the cause. Have you signed all the papers? Can you threaten to back out? See what they say, it will be worth the wait!!

I'm sure it'll be well worth the wait. :) I checked out all the half ton and three quarter ton pickups before deciding on the Ram.

I did negotiate a pretty good price which is why I don't think they care to do much to go out of their way for me any more. I also negotiated to have it towed 600 miles instead of driven (I want to break it in myself). I've signed the papers and made the hefty down payment. I'm not sure how threatening to back out would work, but I do have record of them telling me it should be there 5 days ago.

In the future I think I'll hold off on any money down until the pickup's in site.

It depends on how far away it is. If within 200 mi, I usually get them within a day or 2.

Mine was brought in from another dealer also because they did not have what I wanted on the lot. I filled out all the paperwork, but did not sign the final sales agreement until the truck was delivered and I was able to test drive it. It took them 2 days to get it, but that was in the summer, so weather could be a factor.
It should not matter what price you paid or how good the deal was, you are still a customer and reputation should be important to any dealership, so I would definitely give them a call and ask what's up.

I have not signed the final paper work. That happens at pickup. I did call and the general manager basically said it'll get here when it gets here and they have no control over it. I smell BS but I don't know what I can do about it. It's not so much the delay that bothers me. I was ready to have a vehicle built, what bothers me is not having any sort of ETA.

To me this smells of "the other dealership either sold it or won't let us have it so we are trying to get one". I'd be putting a deadline on them to hold them accountable. Give them a week then be prepared to walk.

my last suv i had bought had to be located.
the dealer said 2 days, well 2 days came and went and no new ride.
i told them forget it canceal the deal i found what i wanted at another dealership, and told them the place i found i found it, then hung up.
3 hrs later they called and said my ride was there.
turns out, they didnt want to pay a driver to go get it, this came from the guy that goes and gets the cars.
this was a 2012 4runner.
only kept it 17 months due to **** poor customer service at toyota.
LOVE my ram i traded the 4runner for.
