Yes, extend the wiring yourself! There are many ways you can hook this up. I don't think you need to go as far as tapping into the ignition. You can easily hook to reverse lights or use a switch and tap into your trailer harness power wire. You could actually do both options if you wanted to. I've asked about how to do that with a relay or diodes but never got an answer that I could understand. Lol...

Lol. Trust me when it comes to electrical it terrifies me. I just picture sparks and fire as I’m barreling down the highway lol.

I watched a pretty bland video from the UK and some guy breaks it down for someone like me and it actually made so much sense. He spoke about piggy back fuse connectors. I found it on one of those YouTube rabbit holes and it shows how to find a fuse that has a “constant on” and “switched on”. So basically you use a volt meter and test the connections. Find one that doesn’t light up when the truck is off and lights up 12v when key is turned. That will send power to the relay and hence the whole system. When the vehicle is off it cuts the power and should kill the switch as power isn’t getting to the relay.

F&$k my brain hurts after that! If I find the video I’ll link it. I learneded so much ha ha

Marsh here is the link. I had to google veg oil car rocker switch ha ha ha ha ha. Don’t ask.

Also, those exhaust clips are such a good idea. I’m gonna go to that’s store tomorrow and see where it leads me. It’s a weird ass store. From farm stuff to beef jerky. Weird misplaced crap everywhere lol.

I know your pain. Although I have figured out wiring for all my lighting needs, I cannot get tuning my stereo system for the life of me, my head freakin hurts from trying to figure it out. If I could just spend one day with a car audio guy and pick his brain it sure would clear things up for me. Good luck!

Thanks Marsh.

I found a wiring diagram for the mictuning harness and from what I understand if I tap that wire into the fuse box to a “switch” fuse it should kill the power to the relay. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. It would be just behind the inline fuse off the battery.

Alrighty. So mictuning emailed me back and I must say I’m impressed with how fast they were!

Anyways, they said instead of getting power from positive battery post the said to use a fuse location. Problem is I don’t know which ones are spare fuses. I looked inside the fuse box and I looked at the diagram. In the manual I noticed two that said “spare” off the top of my head I can’t remember what the fuse number was. So will these “spare” fuse locations have power to them? Or is it simple a holding place to keep spare fuses ?

On trucks I’m guessing spare powered fuses would make sense seeing as how trucks are meant for work. So adding lights, ploughs, CB radios etc....

If someone with knowledge about these trucks could chime in that’d be great!

Ok so for those still following I went into the cold and tested the fuse slot F101. It’s a blank live fuse and only has power when key is in acc or on [emoji106]. Great success (Borat voice).

Blanks F102 and F103 are not live and are empty so nothing can be plugged in. As you look there is only that one with connection points. So that settles one light. Now I gotta find one for light in the front.

Depending on amp load of lights maybe use that fuse location for front and rear? Watts divided by volts equals amperage

My two lights on the rear are 18w each. So let’s call it 40 Watts. If I divide that by 12 I get 3.3

So the amps are 3.3? The fuse that comes with the harness are 15amp.

For the front rough country bar I think it’s a 90 watt and I’ll use the cigar lighter F93 fuse location which is not always on and it’s a 20amp yellow

So I mocked up my harness to the 5 pin rocker switch and I have two loose ends. No clue what for LOL.

You can always replace the harness 15a to a 5 amp. Not sure what you've got there from switch, maybe leads (black) to power and blue to light?
Where does other end of harness go?

Red one on switch goes to battery on harness which is white

Black on switch goes to black on harness ground

And blue goes to light?

The all join in a harness that goes to relay. WhT confuses me is the two open ends.

F$&k I hate electrical crap

I wired mine into both the reverse light circuit and the cargo light circuit - isolated by a diode - so they come on when i go into reverse, they also come on as approach lights with the unlock button on the key fob and also manually with the cargo light switch from inside the cab.

Thats a mictuning harness?
I have 2 and red is battery hot, black is ground, white is switchleg that operates their relay. From the mictuning realy is leads to lights.
In pic the black n red to left is to lights, black red n white to right to switch inside cab. Red connects to switch (hot), black is ground and white is what engages relay when u push the button

Im in a really crappy signal area so it's hard to " help a brotha out" in any kind of decent response time

Hey no worries man !

I mocked it up on my boat battery and I noticed when I jiggled the switch in my hand the light would flicker. Bad switch ? Or hooked it up wrong ? The harness they supplied has a quick connect and white, blue and black. They also have two female ends the come off the black and white. Not sure if I’m suppose to use those or if they are redundant as I have the harness hooked up.

I used their diagram and also used the supplied wires that have splices in them to join the connections. I can’t stand electrical. I should just drop it off at a shop and say call me when it’s done. I’ll hook up the actual lights and they can do the rest.

This is what I did......

That's exactly how I'd like to run some on my ram! I know for reverse lights the easiest way would be to tap into my trailer harness but for the cargo light did you go up to the cab light or the switch in cab?

Ok this is what mictuning said ha ha. I’m even more confused......

“Thank you for your pics.
Actually the you got 2 5 pin switch wire ,could you pls remove the wire which came with your switch, and use our wiring harness to connect your switch directly.
The"U"tpye Black to the battery ground of 7,8 position on the switch.
The"U"type white to the positive of 2,6 position on the switch.
The blue to the 3 position of the switch.

Any further concerns, pls feel free to tell us.”

Here is my set up. Flush mount pods, and I tapped into the reverse lights on the trailer wiring harness.

I mounted cheap Chinese LED cubes with a simple L shaped bracket made from flat stock. Mine are wired in the backup light wire on my 7 pin trailer plug on my 2500.

looks like your using the Contura V lower independent switch, maybe this will help.
