looks like your using the Contura V lower independent switch, maybe this will help.

That sort of makes sense. I can kind of follow that. I would have been the worst electrician the world has ever seen!!!

See the switch wires are coming out of a relay. So which wire corresponds with what polarity ? Red=pos. Black=ground. White? Wtf. Why do they use blue and white !?? Life would be so much simpler if the used normal colours!

This is what also confuses me. What are these wires connected too?

It clearly labels and shows everything. And all of a sudden they’re like hey let’s not label these two live wires and mess with people ?

I give up......

Those would go-to +12VDC (positive and ground), most like a circuit already fused and probably switched by the ignition. I'm guessing the rocker switch is lighted.

Those are for what crash said, power connections to feed switch lights

Concur, tie it into your dash light circuit. But there's a caveat here. Your using a dual led switch. The lower pin out for the switch light where it says "Rear Lights" needs to go to your dash light circuit. The led light for the upper picture needs direct 12v power so it's only on when you push the switch.

*amended to clarify

When I did the mock up on my boat battery the switch functioned as it should lol. It lit up the proper things and when I engaged it it would light up the top albeit with some flickering LOL.

Wouldn’t the switch get power from the relay !?

One hour labour cost or an Aneurism.... hmmm.... ha ha ha

So if it was me (just what i would do) I would tape off those two unknown connections to avoid a short, mock it all up as you have it on the ground and connect it to 12V. See if it works

edit: my bad, i think that's what you said lol. If it works then tape those up and install, no harm done.

Is it unusual for switches to get power source from relay as opposed to under the dash splice?

That's exactly how I'd like to run some on my ram! I know for reverse lights the easiest way would be to tap into my trailer harness but for the cargo light did you go up to the cab light or the switch in cab?

Tapped into the cargo light wire under the door sill on the drivers side rear door. ran that wire to trigger a relay, ran the wire from the reverse lighte

The correct answer is EVERYTHING runs through a relay. And by everything, I simply mean everything.

Thanks! Ok so Mictuning replied to my questions and it makes sense now ;). I must say I am impressed with their service and they always reply same day.

They are saying the red and black spliced wires they supplied don’t get used! Must be for a different configuration I suppose

The worst about all this is it’s too darn cold to be doing anything :(. It’s 14F this morning with the wind!

For some reason, I personally like it a lot. :)

*****!!! That’s awesome! Easy to get at? I sat in my driveway in my truck pretending like a was driving bans reaching around to find switch locations. Some dude walking his dog saw me and I can tell in his head was a “wtf” moment

I looked up how to remove the bezel etc.... would that switch housing fit in the bottom section?

That’s brilliant! How did you secure them ? Aside from using the clamps

Did all you guys run power directly from your trailer harness to the lights, or did you run some sort of relay in as well? I'm looking at installing 2 2" cube led lights if that matters, would like to tap into the cargo light as well

Yes, pretty easy to get at, though I have my spots and driving lights also triggered by the high beams so I don't have to reach at all to turn them off while driving.
