Leveling a 06 1500 Sport 4x4 Correctly

Right now I have brand new bilsteins installed. My ball joints actually are in fine condition and I will wait to replace them this summer. Sooo... that means I have some money to play with.

I want to level my truck instead, do I need to get new sway bar links to properly do this? I am leveling it from the front. I read online leveling it, puts stress on some joints. And the stock sway bar links as well. Therefore getting new longer ones remove the stress on joints. Is this true? I want to do it the correct way.

The above seems like a good one. Way cheaper then other leveling kits... I'd have to find proper links right?

Wouldn't hurt hurt to get longer links if they are made. Biggest issue is bottoming out the shocks. Stock shocks aren't long enough

I see. If this is an issue. Then forget it. Why do a mod if it hurts more then it helps.

Could do shock extensions or lower the rear to match. I leveled and lowered the rear, damn bilsteins leveling shocks.

sullivan, you can just put longer shocks on, also I believe some of the companies make an adapter which relocates the mounting for the stock length shock, or that have might have been with torsion key kits on the 02-05 rams.

I haven't had any issues with any parts binding or anything.... with my 2" HBS level that is. I would suggest a 2.5" to be closer to level (hindsight is def 20/20).

I do have bottom-out issues, but over speedbumps and stuff, nothing major. If you read around, you'll hear of the "death wobble" issues while in 4wd, mainly found in the 2500 trucks. I have a minor case of this, but only at 25ish mph. Slower or faster, its smooth.

Personally, I'd say go with the 2.5" HBS and 2in longer shocks, call it a day!

I actually went with the 2" as well and I sit perfectly level...The tip they give on HBS's site to measure ground to fender comes in pretty handy...If I woulda got the 2.5 the front would have sat higher than the rear...No good

The stock shocks on an 06 are fine if you level it. I've had mine leveled for a few years now, on OEM shocks, no issues.

The guys talking about shock issues are confusing the 02-05 front end with the 06+ front end. For 06+, the level kit sits on top of the strut (we don't use shocks). As long as you keep your level kit at 2" max, you will not have any issues with cv joints. And there is no issue with the swaybar with just a level.

As far as ball joints, you will be disconnecting them during the level install anyways, so now is a good time to replace if you want to save a little labor.

This is what I was looking for. Thanks. I will just wait until summer, I'll buy a nice set of 35's too. And have two sets of tires.

not sure how I missed this one........

I ran a HBS on my 08 and now on my 10. Its a great kit (they are all pretty much the same!), the only issue I had was a bad tie rod end 5K after the install........but, the tie rods suck on these trucks anyway. I have about 5K on the level on the 10, no issues on that.

Wish this had been more evident a year ago when I installed the bilsteins. They were a pain in the **** and I was still an inch higher in the back.

I know I could have done this with the 5100 series, but that was a choice I made.

Thats what I did. killed two mods with one product. Seeing as the shocks,(struts)are a little pricey anyways,I used the technology and leveled her. I gotta tell ya Tyler, I think those springs in the rear are 2500's or something. Thats a bit too high to be there, after a bilstein lift. Have you ever compared up against another 1500?? I would.
