Been trying to find someone that sells a honeycomb lower Ram grill.jpg Ram lower insert.jpg insert for the front bumper on a 2012 Ram Sport/R/T. With no luck I decided to make my own. I simply bought a piece of honeycomb panel off of ebay, I cut the center out of my original insert. Left about a 1/2 inch all around the edges so I could have something to attach the honeycomb piece I cut to fit. Before you order make sure you measure the width you need. the piece I ordered was not wide enough so I had to piece it together which did ok but more work. I really don't know why they didn't do this from the factory, The original looked so cheap and out of place.

I want/need to do it to mine as well! I took my lower insert out years ago. I still have it laying around. Tray, I like what you did with the grill. How hard was it to do? I did something similar to a Cobalt SS back in the day. Someone gutted the grill and took the rear covers off. I cut my hands all to crap getting it together. I tried to get my inserts out of my grill to paint them, but got stuck with the top part. I was afraid I was going to break it.

Time consuming, but not hard at all.
I also went with the powder coated aluminum mesh so it'd be easier to cut with my *****. Once I got it sandwiched in place (still in progress) I came back and just trimmed to the outside edge of the border molding.

How hard was that to cut out and what are you using to keep it in place?
That looks good
Thanks,
Not hard at all with a pair of *****, just time consuming.
I bought the powder coated aluminum for that reason, the stainless would've been a ***** to cut.
The inserts are sandwiched in by the original insert surrounds, I just cut the louvers out (I had already blacked out my louvers front and back).
I then touched up the plastic with black paint where the cut marks were left.
See?

Then I came back and trimmed off the excess on the backside to keep 'em nice and tidy on the inside too. Plus, this way I can remove the inserts if needed w/o messing them up.
They are held in very stoutly, you could bounce a rock off them if so inclined, please don't. lol

This is my lower grill insert I might drill holes or cut slots in the plastic behind the insert to let more air through
