Alright guys. I installed a catch can I put together. I did not trim the hoses or mount it permanently yet, my CAI will be in this week so I have to rearrange then.
Total cost was $33.
I killed the engine. Unplugged the factory tube installed my hoses and attached them to the separator.
The can has a specific direction of flow. I installed it with the tube from the back of the block flowing through the can to the one feeding the bottom of the TB.
Here are some pictures; has anyone ever thrown a Check engine light?!?
(when I first tried to crank it I forgot I hadn't plugged the MAF cable so it didn't crank. Then I plugged it in and it cranked but with a cel. Would that be the cause and will it go away on its own?

Catch can threw a CEL?!

If you had something unplugged when you tried to start the truck that's definitely where your code is coming from.

Any auto parts store can probably reset it with their scan tool. Not sure if disconnecting battery clears the codes.

It sure did. Tool the (-) cable off the battery for about 2-3 minutes and when I reinstalled and cranked ER up no CEL.
Sweet.
Well now we will just see if this in line air/oil separator does what I want it to do.

Changed for you. Make sure the air separator has the fill line as horizontal as possible. It will not work unless it sits correctly. Glad it worked for you I have been using it on mine for 10k or more probably no issues. Did you seal the drain with something?

Mine had an auto pressure release valve at the bottom.
I took it apart and removed the spring.
Then I siliconed it shut and all.
It is actually sitting at about a 10-15degree slant how it is mounted.
Does yours have a built in filter?

Sounds good mine does have a filter built in. It is the same as yours but husky from Home Depot probably the same company makes them and changes the colors and sticker haha.

So how did you mount it to sit parallel with the ground/truck?

Well as you can see with mine it is not perfect but by keeping it close to the engine down below the cover for the engine it sits pretty well.

Did you bolt it or strap it to anything?

No by putting it close I am just using the hoses to support it.

Oh ok got ya.
Well guys I am a believer. This lower boughtoil/air seperator shows results after just 277 miles.
It works, and made a believer out of me.
I will say this.
It shows how much these things would really cost to make for a vehicle and how much of a markup people who make them for "vehicles" have on them.
I bought blue. It was close to the mopar blue and it looks good for me to save $100.00. Mounting is gonna be fairly easy when I get the aftermarket CAI in to find an exact spot.
You can also disassemble the entire thing ( glass comes right out) and paint it whatever color you want really.
Using engine paint, caliper paint, maybe plasti dip.
Here are some pics from today.
