Can I use the lug nuts on my 2016 1500 Big Horn with a set of 4th Gen 1500 Laramie wheels?

Thanks
Ryan

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a general question about the lugnuts themselves.

Is there a better, aftermarket, lug nut out there for this generation? I've already chewed up 3 of them, because they have that stupid chrome coating over the actual lugnut, which actually changes the size socket you have to use (which from an engineering standpoint, seems like an epic fail).

Just venting. Anyone else have this problem?

Common problem for all lugnuts really. In my shop we see it all the time. Lugnuts are just one of those components that wear out over time. The best way to prevent it is making sure you are using the correct size socket and not rounding the corners. For instance, our lugnuts require a 22mm but a 7/8" will somewhat fit but being slightly larger, it will round them out. Also, if you use "cheap" sockets it could also cause rounded lugnuts.

Yep. This happens usually from using the wrong socket.

Yes, and the wheels are interchangeable, from at least 1998...

can find them almost anywhere, you'll want to look for something solid. these stock lugs are junk really, cheap coating and hollow ends.

I'm using the lug wrench that came with the truck. Although at this point I wouldn't be shocked if Ma Mopar gave me the wrong size wrench.

I'm chocking this up to lugnuts being a relatively disposable commodity. And I'll confirm the 22mm too.

All that aside .. I bet the Laramie wheels will look nice!

Gorilla makes good lugnuts.

gorilla must have improved their lugnuts, because I had some about 10 years ago, and I thought they were pretty cheesy. I really liked the McGard tough nuts, and they have lots of different styles for different apps, but I am kind of boycotting them because they refuse to make locking lugnuts to fit my 01 Ram 3500 dually.

used a 22mm impact and while it didn't round the lugs it roughed them up pretty good. probably didn't help that the guys that mounted my tires apparently have no idea what a torque wrench is
