Good morning group, I'm looking for advice. My 2012 1500 has the typical Hemi exhaust leak on the driver side. That manifold & bolts were replaced by the dealer last June. The passenger side was replaced a couple years ago as well. I was going to take off both manifolds and have them resurfaced since they have been "heat cycled". I'm seeing some people posting that it works and some say they will still warp again... thoughts??

I've done 4. Two before I tried resurfacing them and two were resurfaced.

The first two (not resurfaced), one had the problem return and the other got traded soon after the manifold job

The two that I resurfaced with a belt sander never had the problem again (yet). One was a 2011 Durango I did in 2019, the other a 2013 Ram that I did early last year.

After resurfacing use a set of 6022 Remflex gaskets and new hardware. The Remflex gaskets have the ability to absorb expansion and contraction better then a multi-layer steel gasket.
They're also the only gasket i've ever had that will handle a nitrous backfire with-out blowing out

I just had my manifold leaks dealt with today. I resurfaced the factory manifolds and used the remflex 6022. 1 question,
do you think there will be any issues in the future because the remflex gasket doesnt have the little heatshield bend to protect the valve cover at the top?

I also ended up using dorman bolts instead of the arp because I wanted to keep the heat shield. The arp don't have the bolts with the studs for the shield. The tech also said it took a while to torque the bolts because the remflex were so thick and soft. In the end, I had 3 broken bolts on the passenger side and 1 on the driver. Fortunately, only 1 broke flush.

No,you won't have heat issues. Lots of guys use the Remflex gaskets on headers with no issues. Hopefully your guy didn't get carried away tightening them,as they only call for 20 lb-ft,and if he kept cranking them down, you'll lose all their advantages

I was informed the rear manifold has a crack on my RAM is Limited 2019 with 114,000 miles. Given the milage I'm guessing that's not uncommon with these trucks.
Hoping to reach 150K because I can't really afford a payment at present time.

It’s got a Hemi in it
Yes, the 5th Gen trucks “break” differently. The manifold actually cracks due to a different design. Us 4th Gen types usually deal with broken studs. Which reminds me…the ‘18 started making noise at 62K miles and the ‘17 just started getting noisy right about that same mileage. Oh well, what’s $500 to get both sides done again?‍ (shrug shoulders)

If they are cracked its best to go with a manifold replacement from AFE or BD, or do shorty headers from AFE, or Long tubes from SW. If they are just warped and want an excuse to get more power, then shorty or long tube headers are a great option.
