Question for the technically inclined gentlemen....

Does the mds/ecu learn the driving habits of the driver? Ever or learning all the time? Never?

Reason I ask is because i lost mpg's obviously when I added larger tires but then about a month later my mpg's started going back up. Not a whole lot but more than I was averaging previously. And my driving habits have not changed. If anything, I've been gettin on it a lil more lately.

Just curious.

Have they gone up hand calculated or on the evic? The ECU will learn driving habits but as for the MDS it'll only come on if the RPMS are low and the truck can continue to propel itself down the road with only 4 cylinders.

Evic...which I know isn't very reliable. I just don't know why/how my mpg's would have gotten better out of nowhere.

I should clarify that it has only gone up 1 mpg but hey, I'll take it!

It's weird that it would be showing better unless you've also changed the speedo over. I'd deffinitly get some hand calculated numbers to see how close the evic is!

If I remember I'll do the hand calculation.

I haven't redone the speedo. I went to dealer to check it out and apparently chrysler said no more to doin tuners or calibrating speedos.

I was lookin into a hypertec speedo calibrator. That's alot of coin for one thing though.

Although I can't confirm it, I think the mds/ecu does at least remember driving habits. A while back on a different truck I tried a 0-60 3 times "mod" just to prove a friend wrong when he said the computer would remember and my truck would feel quicker. I was surprised to say that after doing a pedal to the floor to 60mph run, then stopping, 3 times, the next time I accelerated the truck shifted like I had my foot in it, like it was expecting the hard acceleration. It went away pretty quick but for a moment it "learned". To answer your original questions I think it definitely adjusts to our driving habits but I don't think their is any long term storage of driving parameters.

Just my .02

The computer does adjust to driving habits, but the mileage gains you are seeing are more than likely from the fuel you are using and the outside temperature. Winter blend fuel always gets less mileage, so now that it has warmed up, your mileage will go up. Also, colder air is denser air which requires more fuel.

Now that I recall I used 91 last time I filled up. Maybe that was it.

Originally I was getting 15ish mpg without lift.

After lift/wheels... 11.3-11.7ish.

Now recently...12.5- 12.8ish.

But again, this is all from evic. I'm not too concerned with fuel consumption seeing how it's a lifted truck. Now if I was in the 10 or less range I'd be concerned lol
