MexiRams out there?

Proud owner of a ‘16 1500 CC here, but one thing has always stuck out in my mind about the truck. On the VIN and finally assembly plate, it lists the assembly plant in Mexico (First digit in the VIN is a 3). I had thought that the 1500’s were all assembled in the US (Warren, MI I believe) and haven’t really seen any other MexiRams on lots since then.

Does anyone else have one or know if they still assemble any in Mexico? Just curious, Thanks!

Side note: you can tell a Ram that was built in the Warren plant--the paint looks like ****!

My understanding is that most Rams are assembled south of the boarder...

Besides regular cab 1500s, some Tradesman, Express, and Big Horn crew cab models are built at the Saltillo plant. I see them all the time, its apparent because they have the Sirius/gps antenna upfront on the drivers side of the roof.

Didn’t know there was a difference on the placement of the satellite antenna. Where is it at on trucks from Warren?

Funny story about that. Had a 2015 express crew cab in silver that was built at Saltillo. The truck had paint mottling all over the truck and FCA bought it back. Checked out a bunch of 2015 and 2016 metallic colored trucks from that plant and noticed the same thing.

My truck is a Warren truck and the paint is perfect.

Glad for you man. A lot of people's aren't and there seems to be continual complaints from many members. Sorry, instead of making a generalized statement maybe I should have gotten a more accurate exact number. I'll try to do better next time

Buddy of mine just ordered a 2500 and it came out of Mexico. That’s where the 2500 are made

Warren Truck is undergoing renovations to build the HD trucks there(along with the "Classic version" 1500). The New 1500s will be built up the road at Sterling Assembly.

Got to wonder, when assembly moves back to US from Mexico. Will we see improved quality control on the assembly line. May be that is why they are moving. Can only hope so.

Had a GMC from Mexico once and the quality was horrible, so I was initially leary about buying my current one. I can honestly say after 2 years of owning it, I have not had a single issue with it.

Other than one paint job from the next, has anyone had significant issues with their MexiRam?

Significant,,,I don't think so. When you read the problems some people are having with new out of Mexico trucks, the majority of the problems sound like assembly issues rather than design problems. My 7 Dodge trucks, 6 out of Mexico 3 had new vehicle issues. All assembly.

My Mex 2500 std. cab has been near faultless. Paint isn't great. Some orange peel on the bed sides. A couple leaky cab marker lights. Beats hell out of Chevy and Fords I've owned..

Had 3 Rams from Mexico, the quality was outstanding.

Got 50,000km on mine, not so much as a blown globe yet.....

But they are shipped here partially assembled, stripped, converted to RHD and reassembled....
