Just to close this out. After contact Stellantis Customer Care on 2/18, the dealer received a new MGU on the 27th and I got it installed today. About 1.5 hours labor total. The dealer also updated the dash display software and the 12" display software (a nice touch). So about 5 weeks from when I first went to the dealer with the bearing noise to finish. My recommendation is that if you are starting to hear this noise and the dealer confirms it's the MGU, contact Customer Care right away as they did seem to be able to expedite the part.
And for those of you navigating this mess, the dealer informed me that the MGU is not covered under the 8/80,000 powertrain warranty. They were pretty insistent about it. So it would have been about $2,000 out of pocket total - except I had an extended warranty, so I was 'only' out $100 for the deductible.
I'm going to confirm with CC whether the part is or is not covered under the powertrain warranty.
And on the technical side, they wouldn't give me the old unit as they want the cores. And the part number I received is 68623194AB. Not sure what my original p/n was as the label is underneath, but I'm guessing since I have a 2021, I may have had an older revision. The 'AB' is what I see in all the online parts catalogs so from this I'm guessing there is no 'AC' revision yet.
In the end, I don't fault the whole start/stop mild-hybrid system. This was 100% a problem from the use of inferior parts. A plain alternator may have the same issues if it uses the same bearing supplier.
Good luck
