Hello All,
Did a search and found nothing on this which surprises me but.......
On three separate occasions I have had a random CEL light come on. On each occurrence the CEL light came on, blinking, for a few seconds and then went out. Then came back on again for a few seconds and went out. Each time the CEL came on for three start/stop cycles and then quit.
Every time that this happened I brought the truck immediately to my local dealership to have the codes scanned. On the first and third occurrence the code 0302 (misfire cylinder #2) was pulled. On the second time no code showed. Throughout the whole ordeal the engine never missed a beat.
The service advisor at my local dealer (a very sharp guy that I really trust) pretty much refers to this as the "fantom 6.4 misfire code". His thought is that there is an "overly sensitive" sensor. At this point I cannot disagree with him.
The only common denominator in each of these episodes is that the engine was not fully up to operating temperature; not cold but in the process to reaching normal operating temperature.
So apparently I am not alone with this problem but again, I haven't been able to find any information on this. Anybody else here on this forum having this issue??
TIA, Pete
