so I am looking at doing a small system in my truck... I plan on getting the mtx thunder form, under the rear seat set up.... and some kickers for up in the dash, also want to use my regular radio.... what size speakers should I get for the doors ( not sure what the factory size is ) and do I need an amp ? if so any suggestions ?

I was looking at walmart for door speakers and amps but not sure if their are any good ones or not... I am hoping I can get something decent for under 500 bucks or 600, and I would like the bass to hit pretty good but not looking to shake my truck across the parking lot

Both front and rear doors are 6x9's and the front dash speakers are 3.5's. Putting an amp on the door speakers isn't required but it definitely helps.

haha...no problem. The amp just feeds more power to the speakers. If you don't plan to add an amp, then you want to run a set of speakers with a lower power output. I am running the Infinity Reference 6x9's in all 4 doors and the Reference 3.5's in the dash, and I have been very happy with this setup even without an amp.

Depends on which thunderform you get. They have loaded (with subs) with an amp built in (its not a great one but it sounds like it will fit your needs), loaded without an amp, and unloaded with no amp. All come pre wired depending on your application.

I have an unloaded thunderfrom that Im running with 2 JL 10w3's on a JL HD900/5. It sounds like you would be fine with a loaded thunderfrom with a built in amp. I haven't heard it in person but people who want a little more bass seem to like it. I'd check ebay for a used one.

As for door speakers listen to a bunch and find what you like. While you have your doors open throw some sound deadening in there, you'll be glad you did.
I wouldn't recommend doing a cheap/low power amp just because it wouldn't be worth the extra effort or money. If you're going through that trouble get a decent one. Like Hemi450HP said. Try it without an amp and you might like it. If you don't like it, upgrade.

Best is go listen to as many as you can, let yor ears decide. You can get $50 coax, or $500 coax.
