The reasoning for my method is that I don't want to modify the exhaust to void the warranty. Plus mine is lease currently so if I want to convert it back to stock it's super easy and looks like nothing has been done.

I don't believe the stock exhaust is stainless tho. Looks like aluminized steel to me.

It is stainless albeit low grade 409.

Thanks for reminding me about these mufflers, gonna be swapping two of these on my truck which will be much easier to swallow then two Magnaflows.

Wish I would have known about this a few weeks ago. I built mine for slightly cheaper but this would have been way easier. 20 bucks mini bullet, 25 y pipe and 20 for 2.25 inch piping. Cousin welds so we welded it up and then we clamped it in.

There isn't a vehicle in production that has came without a stainless exhaust from the factory in years... They don't last more than 3 years in the rust belt unless they are stainless.

Well guys i went ahead and finished the install of the exhaust. Basically pulled the muffler out and knotched it out for the stock tail pipe alignment pins. The exhaust is pretty centered, might look alittle off (viewing angle) in the pic but its pretty good. I like them tucked in more than sticking out like stock. The tail pipes can not move or rotate as they are locked in now.

So here are some pics of the knotching of the muffler exits and the end result on the truck.

This is the inside of the muffler… basically straight through with a y at the back end.






overall its a nice sound, not noticeable at idle (only on cold start) and gets louder… still some resonance kinda in the 1600-1800 range but not as bad as stock I think. She sounds real good above 2K to redline.

Got mine installed Sunday and am loving it. Didnt do the notches yet so i'm living with the alignment right now..it's not horrible. I'll have to do that next. Overall I'm more than pleased... $70 well worth it. She gets loud when u get on it and is nice and quiet when cruising.

Center inlet muffler?

Hey guys Ive been reading the thread and I get installing a 8" pipe and how that plays in ,however, why a center inlet muffler I've look at my 2014 and it seems like a center inlet would have the muffle almost touching the frame. Could you also post some pics of the exhuast installed. And lastly what's up with notching the muffler. I'm looking at installing my own flow master ( personal preference) nice thread on DIY muffler install. A lot of ppl don't reali how easy exhuast work can be and how much you save compared to a local muffler shop.

You clearly have not retained what you have "read" then. Most aftermarket mufflers have center inlet and dual outlet... not many options with a single in and dual out. Mufflers are much much smaller than stock and therfore fit with no issues. The exits need to be notched to accept the factory tail pipes as they have alignment tabs welded on to locate the exhaust for a perfect fit. If you dont notch the muffler then you would have to grind the alignment tabs off so the tail pipes fully slide into the muffler. Or you could leave the muffler as is and tail pipes and line it up and hope that the tailpipes don't move around (which they do). So to finish a clean install and not have any worries about the tiPS not staying lined up, u notch the mufflers vs tweeting the stock tailpipes (void warranty) and get it to fit like stock.

No reason to get hostle, just made a statement saying it's been covered in the thread before... u would have had no reason to ask a question for it to be reanswered or restated multiple times if u reread the thread to "retain" the information. I could have just told u to reread the thread and give you no answer to your question, but restated it anyways.

If you can't handle the respones on "online forums" then u shouldn't post. Apparently ur very touchy and shouldn't just blast down someone's face when alot is missing in "online chatting" like tone etc. But ur sarcasm is very unwelcomed and would rather you not waste a post in my thread with a nonsense childish response.
