just had a new magnaflow put on and I have single exhaust. it was just a turn down after the muffler and it looks like it kinda blows right down toward the rear axle which has a rubber brake hose runnin across the axle. is it gonna burn a hole thru that eventually?? or am I worrying about nothing. I was pretty warm to the touch when I got home. and question number two. is it normal for a new muffler to give off a weird smell when brand new? I figure its just chemicals burning off and I think I read that too. I may just have the resonator and pipe put back on and run it out the back like stock.. and the drone already SUCKS just on the way home!

I can't answer anything else other than to tell you I think the smell is normal.

I just installed my Magnaflow catback today and noticed the smell right away after going for a test drive.

I've taken a couple short trips since then and the smell is gone.

Smell is normal. Drone is too. Got to make that call on your own. Should Be Good On The Rubber But Let Someone Else Answer That. I always followed stock routes to avoid lines.

Last fall my pass. side exhaust fell off after the muffler (oops). I hitched our trailer up and drove 3 hours each way to camping. When we got back, I engaged the e-brake and when I returned, the e-brake was seized. Had to cut it with a cutoff wheel to release it. The heat from the exhaust melted the hell out of the e-brake cable (that same on on the axle). It was only $57 from the dealer to replace, but a PITA nonetheless. Beware.

Any exhaust with a turn down is going to drone like crazy and be pretty loud..

The smell is normal...
