I have decided to pull the rear seats since nobody ever rides back there anymore. My tall net audio sub box with the two JL 12W6v3s was causing the rubber surround to rub against the bottom of the seat and I can't raise the seats anymore so I made the decision to pull the seats entirely and build a custom sub wall with the same subwoofers and display the amps a bit.

I need opinions on what display looks better for the amps, I've got 4 cutouts numbered in the picture, which do you think looks best with the angles on the boxes? I'm leaning towards #4, my wife likes #1 but I don't think it fits with the angles on the sub boxes.

My only comment from a design standpoint is it it very rigid... needs some curve..

This may sound odd but have you thought about mounting two front seats in the rear with one large center console front to back to house the subs and amps?

Just had that thought as I looked at the sketch again.

Keep in mind, this is what the front door pods look like, there's already quite a few angles in my interior design.

I am thinking about changing the lower section of the amp rack so it doesn't cut back in like it currently does.

I have thought about rear captains seats before but I've also looked at how everything would mount and I don't feel like making a custom welded frame for them to sit on and I wouldn't trust the sheet metal to hold the front of the bracket in place in the event of an accident.

Well in that case I see you have a design theme already throughout the whole truck.... watching your builds I should have know this and it works that way with the doors....

Will the Glazing panels be clear or green ?

Clear 1/2" cast acrylic for the sub walls, side lit with RGBW leds. The main panels will be wrapped in carpet but I will also have a lot of accents using the black and snakeskin vinyl I have left over.

#1 would look sweet. I do have a suggestion with those W6's port them if you are doing the work to go custom. It will make a world of difference with tuning and how much easier it will be plus I know those subs sing like angles when ported properly.

I've thought about porting them but I listen to a lot of instrumental and vocal music and I've always found I prefer these music types with the sealed enclosure. I know I'm sacrificing the heavier bass when I'm listening to the electronic and rock but I would be very unhappy if I lost the cleaner bass response with the instrumental/vocal.

I like the look a lot. Personally if it was me, with going through all this work I would not fire the subs up at an angle like that (although it looks sweet and "displays" the subs) you could get some sound quality benefits by loading the subs a bit. With that being said, firing the subs down would load the subs and you could illuminate the inside of the box and then your magnets would be "on display"

I hear ya but with your equipment I have no doubt that it will actually sound tighter and reproduce those low freqs more realistically properly ported.

Coincidently, I drew up another set of plans last night where I am downfiring the subs. I think I'm going to have to put more thought into how I'm going to do this. I prefer downfire but have trouble getting the look I want with them.

I'll also throw together a ported version and see how I feel about it.

I would go with 2, I think it ties in with your front doors the best.

Looks cool man! I agree with the idea of down firing the subs, and I think it would add to the appearance of the set-up too... Maybe add some metal bracing and cantilever the subs out from the rack?

I spent some more time with the modelling program and came up with one I can really get behind. It's dual ported boxes with 5"diamond ports tuned to 33Hz that cross the back of the enclosure. The sub fronts would get whatever shape I end up going with as will the port view box. Thoughts on this one? Ported box volume needs 1909.4cuin and this calculates to 1911.7cuin, I think they will play fine in that, lol.

That's bad ass man, are you using Jl's numbers or are you running numbers through a program like bass box pro?

I used an online port calculator and kept the internal volume recommendations from JL. Port length with a 5x5 square came to 53" which gives me a 6 1/4" opening to the port which should be more than sufficient and it's a very linear port and will have 3" of space on either side of the box.

If I get a minute in the next week I can run the subs through Bass Box Pro and come up with a predictable freq response for you so you won't have any huge peaks to deal with. I say that because JL keeps internal volume on their specs on the smallish side and it really does kill that ultra smooth response I have heard out of the W6s.

I like the design but not they lay out of the amplifiers. I think I would like it better with all amps across the top and a beauty panel over them.
