My 2014 has that odor issue and I keep getting the runaround from the dealer. Started at about 2500 miles, not at 4500. Getting pretty frustrated. Either smells like propane or dead animal. I pity the people stuck behind me in traffic!

Well it going to be another month before the hoses get in. Every time I call the ser. rep. all I get is "I was just about to call you. I just sent off email to west coast rep and haven't gotten anything back yet. I'll find out tomorrow"

THIS IS F#@%ing AWSOME!!!! A truck I can't drive because of I’ve started getting headaches from the smell.

I asked for the MSDS and no one says they have them. The dealer says we don't have them ask Chrysler. Chrysler sys ask the dealer. What the hell!!!

We are all going to die of some weird Neurological Diseased

Mine seems to have gone away. I have 2k miles and I haven't noticed it in probably the last 500. Mine is a 13. Seems most people are a 14 and I never would have called mine a dead animal smell. Different issue I guess for me.
But good luck because I remember GM and their Dexcool crap. I pulled a throttle body housing off of a 3.8 vortec while changing the head gaskets and the plastic area between the coolant passage that runs thru it was totally eroded away (maybe it was on the manifold...been a while)...like it was never there....just a residual left that was like pulp from juicing an orange. That was 80k miles.

I also have a burning smell from under the truck, but you can only smell it when idling.

2013 with 1k miles.

Ooooh, you're cooking the occupants of that Prius-clown car you ran over. It's stuck up agaisnt your exhaust manifold.

I don't smell it in the cab but I am noticing people keep well back when driving behind me. Don't have to worry about tailgaters anymore. I just may leave it lol.

Mine is starting to smell like propane/dead rats now as well with 2100 miles on it. I've read its due to the residue of the chemical wash they give the cylinder heads interacting with the coolant and rubber hoses causing the smell. At any rate it's disgusting lol.

Propane...That's exactly what I thought it smelled like too....Glad to know it's not just my truck. Will be contacting dealer about it.

Terrible smell.

I don't even have 350 miles on my truck, and can't drive it because of the horrible smell. It has had the so called STAR case work done to it, and it stinks just as bad. I have had it with this truck and all the B.S. runaround I am getting from the dealership and Chrysler. In the last 10 years I have bought and sold 2 RumbleBee's, 6 SRT10 1500 Shortbeds, at least 3 quad/crew cab 1500's, a Viper Momba, and a Durango, and this is my reward for all that loyalty? You guys can sit there and let them dump all over you with this problem, and I mean no offense to any of you, but I am so tired of these people saying it is the other one's problem. I am beside myself pissed off at this situation, but it is time for a change, and in a million years I never thought I would say this, but I am going to go buy a Toyota. Good luck fella's, you deserve better.

slight burning smell within the first ~2k miles or so is normal on most new cars. Anything beyond 2k miles or with a different smell other than burnt/smokey smell is not right and needs to be checked.

I just purchased a 2014 Ram 3.0 Eco Diesel and have about 1000 miles on it and the smell in the cab is horrible. I can't say it is a new car smell, almost a burning type smell. Like burnt paint on the engine block maybe. Any how the smell is giving me a headache , dry mouth and upset stomach. Am taking it in to the dealer tomorrow for some aftermarket work and they said they will look at it for me. Hopefully there is an answer to this problem

I took mine in and they replaced all the rubber hoses and flushed it. There was a hint of it for the week or so, then went away. I was getting light headed from it. Made me sick too.

I'm surprised this is the first tread I have seen on the stinky coolant. I have repaired a few cars with the problem. It is a terrible smell.

it`s a closed system and what`s happening is the fresh air intake for the the hvac system is pulling in the odor from the radiator hoses, ive brought my truck in and they changed all the hose and also the overflow tank. The truck is going back in again as the same problem came back about three days later from what the dealer told me there going to flush the system again and that shoul`d get the sillicone that melted of the defective hoses out of the system.

So my dealer must be unaware of the problem. My RO says they replaced the O rings on the transmission cooler. Said the smell was coming from fluid leaking on exhaust. That didn't fix it.

Next time your truck is cool, pull the rad cap and smell the coolant. Does it smell like coolant? Or propane?

Mine smells like propane.
