oem mopar gears 3.92 or 4.10

I went from 3.55 to 4.10 and it was NIGHT AND DAY! I absolutely love em! I have a buddy that has 3.92 4x4 woudl you suggest him going to 4.10 or not much difference?

If he already has 3.92's, I would save the money and stick with them. The jump from a 3.92 to a 4.10 isn't enough to justify the cost, especially with him being 4wd and having to do both axles.

Hey Matt, on a truck like your race truck, how many tenths do you think the 3.92s would cost you compared to the 4.10s you run? Thanks!

About .1-.2 in the 1/4 mile. I wish I had 4.56's in the blue truck. I think I could knock an extra tenth or so off by swapping to a 4.56.

Good to know, thanks Matt! Do you think anyone will ever come out with 4.56s that fit the ZF/Mopar LSD that won't require machine work? Or is that impossible because of the size of the gears?

Its not impossible, but the aftermarket just hasn't shown any real interest in producing these. Ideally, I would like to see Eaton make a TruTrac differential that is just double drilled to accept both the ZF and non ZF ring gear.

so, guys, to be faster at 0-60 should I go 4.1 gear or what? Is it safe to do that stuff (warranty etc) and what would be the budget? What are the disadvantages of going this way? Fuel consumption?

The only bolt on gears for the 2011-up Ram trucks are the OEM/Mopar gears. The cheaper aftermarket gears will only fit up to 2010 unless you machine and re-drill your carrier to accept the bolt pattern of the aftermarket ring gear. In the end, the price comes out about the same after machining cost.

I just went from 3.55 to 3.92 and it's definitely an improvement. I'd say 4.10 but do you do a lot of highway driving? 3.92 might be a nice balance (?) just a thought.

Just a little fuel savings, if you're concerned with that. 3.92s are pretty snappy compared to the 3.55. 3.92 to 4.10 is not that much at all though.

If you're going to be a bear, be a Grizzly. Im under the impression youre not really concerned with gas mileage.

1. It will work fine with 8 speed trans - I have only to select btw 3.92 and 4.10?
2. Fuel cons would be almost the same (yes, it is not so important)
3. Why didn't you choose 4.10 ?
4. You have 8 speed?
5. any disadvantages - for ex more stress pressure to transmission?

The only way to swap to a 4.10 front gear on a 2012+ is to buy a new front axle from an 09-11, new front driveshaft from an 09-11, then aftermarket 8" front gears and install kit. It is a very expensive swap.
