I was dead set on endurance filter to and when i went to buy them my walmart had them all replaced. I liked the trico ultimate or ultra i forget

I wonder if Fleetguard will go down the tubes, too. I mean, Cummins already spun them off as some kind of side company instead of being Cummins Filtration.

Id imagine they will either be sold or they will be just fine. Id imagine some execs got some bonuses for spinning them off lol

Cummins filtration aka Fleetguard was spun off several years ago and has advanced us with more nano filtering media for both oil & diesel fuel, example for oil: NanoNet filter media can trap 98.7 percent of all particles as small as 4 microns... I have also noticed recently that the standard Sartopore filters seem to have better filtering numbers from what I recall reading many years ago. Oh the new name is Atmus filtration technologies in Nashville TN..

Yeah, based on Travis notification, I will switch to Fleetguard if and when Fram Endurance goes away with their impending vulture capitalist bankruptcy. I saved the filter numbers in my hard files so I won't lose it.

I FINALLY figured out where I ordered the RP 20-820 filters from that had all the rust staining inside and media that was disintegrating, and when: carid.com in March of 2019. I ordered 6 from them because at the time they were unobtainium but they had them in stock.

So yeah I don't recommend getting filters from them.

There's so much information in this thread, it's almost overwhelming.... It actually kind of is. Just did an oil change last week. Been running napa full synthetic 5w-30 for the past year. It's right down the road, it's $22 for 5qts when it's on sale, then I just grab 2 more quarts. Usually I grab the gold filter (black filter). However , they were out of the gold filters, so I grabbed a k&n hp-1017 filter instead. From reading this thread, it sounds like the k&n isn't near as good as some of the others. So far, it actually sounds like my truck is running quieter at start up and when hot than it did with the napa gold.
So, my question is, are the frame FE filters or Purolator boss filters better than the k&n or napa platinum? Napa doesn't carry fram or Purolator so I'd have to order them, but if the k&n or the napa platinum are decent filters that can go 3500-5000 miles between oil changes, I'd rather buy local all in one shot.
Also, how hard is it to get one of these bigger filters on a later 4th Gen? My 19 classic has the smaller filter and I guess they changed in 2013 when they switched to the electric power steering.
Long story short, is it worth switching to the fram Fe or Purolator boss or will the k&N or napa platinum filter be just fine?

I have a 2013 with electric power steering and that is all I use is the "larger" filter. It is a pain to change, but not due to the filter size, just the location. I use the RP 20-820.
unscrew it and then move it forward over the front axle and down. That route is the easiest route I found on my 4x4 2015 (when truck is on the lift)

It's not the electric rack,it's when they added the heat exchanger above the oil filter, that sends coolant to heat the oil. It's a joke ,and if i had a vehicle with it,i'd be removing that stupid heat exchanger, then going back to the older style filter nipple,so i could run the bigger filters

Another absurd design to save 0.0000000000001% fuel usage.

EPS well over 2k, out of stock everywhere due to so many fails there is a class action, my 2010 power steering unit is 64 bucks, lol. When they finally bring back our hemi w/o e torque maybe they can bring it back w/o EPS as well.

oops, why we have to keep up with current info, m1 scary..

Like you built the best name in the business with your oil, don't ruin it with stupid filters.

Keep reading that past first report, it gets worse.

Does anyone have any experience with these oil filters? All of them look very solid on paper. May be a good option if 20-820 become unavailable?

Amsoil EA as long as you can, cheaper plus you know it wont be fake as you get them from the source. I haven't heard of any supply issues with EA, anyone? Just have to live with 6 holes like the fe instead of those 8 holed rp's. Well maybe not cheap, I see they are in line with RP now, too bad. Champ labs must have exploded pricing after merger.
