Or, as my old man from Kentucky used to say, "Orl waite."

The manual for my 2023 2500 calls for 0w-40. Is that correct? Is that what they put in at the factory? I've seen 5w-XX before, but never 0w-anything.

It is correct and what is in it from the factory. My 2021 2500 is the same.
Thanks, I figured I was reading it right. It just kind of surprised me. Where have you found that weight? I was in WM last week and thought I'd go look, but none of the brands had that.

I have the dealer change the oil using Penzoil Platinum full synthetic, which is what comes in the truck. It costs within 20 bucks of doing it myself.

Yeah, I stopped doing my own also. I just want to find a quart somewhere to keep behind the seat.

Read the manual - it should say wich MS the oil should meet.

As stated above some parts stores have it but I always got mine off of Amazon. Only a hand full of oils meet the requirements for the 6.4 Hemi so I always stuck with Penzoil. The cams/roller lifters on these used to be really picky so I highly suggest using what the manual asks for.

I used the Mobil 1 0-W40 I got from Auto Zone just last week. Prior to that it always went to the dealer but just didn't have time this time around.

Yes, it does. MS-12633 is now MS-A0921.

I searched and do not see that M1 0w40 meets either of those.

PUP meets both.

Mobile 1 5-20 meets the spec for the 5.7 but when I looked a few months ago their 0-40 idid not meet the spec for the 6.4. I would not be suprised if it still doesn't. That said it wouldn't stop me from using it if I couldn't find Penzoil.

Below is what owners manual has to say about what oil to use in the 6.4 Hemi, too me it looks like any 0w40 synthetic oil that is API rated can be used thus Tulecreeper can use Mobil One 0w40 oil if he likes...

"We recommend using Mopar® API Certified SAE 0W-40 Full Synthetic Engine Oil
which meets the requirements of the manufacturer Material Standard
MS-A0921. Equivalent full synthetic SAE 0W-40 engine oil can be used but must
have the API Donut trademark"

M1 is the only 0-W40 our local chain stores carry. Could have ordered it but am comfortable with M1

I think Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is the only oil that meets MS-A0921. And you'll basically never find it on shelves anywhere. But, it's what dealers use on the 6.4's. You can get quarts of it from your dealer, though it'll be labeled Mopar SRT.

That being said you are not required to run oil that is MS-A0921 certified. It only has to be API certified.

In the 4th gen section there is a lengthy oil thread. Plenty of info. I’d read hemiman posts. Same truck but 4th gen.

Let me rephrase - Mobil 1 is suitable for MS-12633, 6.4L Hemi use. https://buyoil.com/product/mobil-mob1-0w-40bx/
