This year I'm spending some bucks on the truck. Just installed new rims and a 6 inch RC lift. Wanting to get moe's ported throttle
Body as well. I just ordered my JBA shortie headers. Doesn't feel right to have a CAI, magnaflow exhaust and no new headers. I'm hoping to get a bit more Mpg out of it. From what I've heard it doesn't make any noticeable difference in hp or torque. I did get the ceramic chrome ones so they don't rust. Maybe il post an update on how they work for me

There is a gain to be had from shorties, just not the same as you'd see with long tubes. Shorties have their place.

Hell ya. Look at my truck. You think I'm racing anybody? Hell no. But, the shorties will give you gains over our stock manifold. Def my next mod.

The shorties DO help performance, especially the mid range. Consider the Y pipe conversion also, makes a complete package.

So they finally came in. They are going in next Monday. I'm not doing the install myself as I don't have time to do it. I hope to get at least some improvement in sound, and perhaps a bit HP and torque

The place where shorties belong is in California where they have strict smog rules! As far as I know, no long tubes are smog legal in California.

Apples to oranges, but I have Shortys on the V6 Perf PAC Mustang. Sound , looks, midrange, cool factor. They were definitely worth it for me.

Plus non issue if you ever want to sell the truck because they're EPA compliant.

I'm going for some long tubes next year myself, but I'm going for max bolt-on power though :waytogo:

Did you say you got shorties for fuel economy and then 3 weeks later say you want more sound and power?

The sound is a bonus. I would appreciate some mpg increase tho

After having my headers installed for a few weeks now I can say I'm happy with it. As far as horsepower I haven't noticed much. Mpg stayed the same. But I definitely feel a difference in torque. It's stays in lower gears allot longer when climbing hills. That's a big bonus for a truck with bigger tires. The sound has changed minimal but there is definitely more rumble. Is it worth the big bucks. Not sure if it's worth it for everyone. But for my truck with bigger tires it was. The combination of headers, CAI, and magnaflow exhaust system has opened up the truck a bit more.

I just got my long tubes and new y pipe added a few weeks ago. I was really surprised at some of the hills I can go up without downshifting now
