I'm heading to look at a 2018 1500 Outdoorsman tomorrow morning. It has the crew cab, Hemi, 4x4, tow package with 3.92 gearing and 6.4 bed. Has just under 15 thousand miles on it.

Where does the Outdoorsman package fall in the lineup? Above a Tradesman, under a big horn? Over the big horn but under the Laramie? I ask because I wanna know what to price it at. They want $26,500. Is this a good price? Good package for this truck?

Thanks.

I owned a Outdoorsman, now a Big Horn. Each if the two I owned were comparable, and you have to consider the equipment.

I am thinking that your Outdoorsman probably has tow hooks, skid plates.

On the level of a well equipped Big Horn, SLT, Lone Star.

Post the window sticker, can compare accordingly.

I see '18 Laramies & Big Horns on Car Gurus averaging $25k with low miles.
Don't know the trim difference but Laramie is usually upscale.

The Outdoorsman, as I understand it, was technically a Tradesman with the package that gives you a skid plate, tow hooks, limited slip differential and some other minor things like body enhancements. This is now just the off road package on the Tradesman.

I really like my Outdoorsman and it was a very well equipped version. I would not put it at the Laramie level but mine is as well equipped as any Big Horn I've seen. I would say the Tradesman is a notch lower but you could always option one out.

I have a 2018 2500 SLT Outdoorsman but mine has almost every option. Only things it doesn't have is leather, sunroof, heated seats, and adjustable pedals. Mine has the full console, touch-screen nav, power rear slider with defrost, power drivers seat, 20" alloy wheels. It has the Off-Road package too so not sure if that makes any difference. If I had to guess I'd say mine is comparable toa Big Horn.

Laramie is the highest trim line, just below Laramie Limited. My Big Horn has everything described above, factory leather, roof. No adjust on pedals - like my oversized tank.

Outdoorsman, like Big Horn, SLT is above Tradesman and Express.

Middle of the road, popular options, good value.

Definitely prefer a 2 seat configuration to a bench seat up front.

As an optioned out Tradesman owner, I can say the Outdoorsman is a quite different animal. It's got standard heated seats and steering wheel, standard power captain chairs (cloth though), locking diff, skid plates, tow hooks, 32 gallon fuel tank, 8" touchscreen and 7" EVIC. Sunroof is optional. According to most brochures, the Outdoorsman slots just above the Big Horn, but at least comfort features are very similar between both trims (but I believe some were options on the Big Horn).

My 2500 Outdoorsman is kind of an SLT or Bighorn with maybe a few more/different things - less chrome and more body color, tow hooks, skid plate. Interior/options I think can go either way on some things. I don't have heated seats/steering wheel but do have the larger (for 2014 anyway) 8.4" screen. Driver's power seat, passenger manual, nicer radio than some lower models, no dual-zone climate and no auto temperature setting, cloth seats.

AT least in 2016, the Outdoorsman was above a Big Horn, below a Laramie and just different equipment vs. a Sport.

I thought 16 was the last year for the US Outdoorsman package though? Even though it was available as a Canadian package after that.

IF that is true and you are in the US, watch the warranty.

The package varied with years and models as far as I know.
In 2016 with the 1500 lineup, the Outdoorsman was several steps above a Tradesman. It was actually above the Big Horn (which the Big Horn, Longhorn, Outdoorsman were variants of the SLT line).

It was built in Canada. I can pull up the original window sticker and it's in French. Why should I be concerned with the warranty?

Do you live in Canada?

Canadian trucks warranty does not transfer to the US in most all cases and are not eligible for any Mopar extended warranty plan either.

No. Good info. I’ll ask before I head out there. Thank you very much.

Don't believe the dealer lol. Many will lie about it as they buy the trucks much cheaper than their US counterparts.
You have the vin, maybe call another dealer or FCA themselves to see if it is able to be transferred.

Now that being said, if it is a great deal and much less than a US built truck, then it still may be a great buy. And there are aftermarket warranties, warranties sold by your credit union if you belong to one, some car insurers have a breakdown policy you can get, etc.

Look at this thread.

I called my local Dodge dealer. You're spot on with the warranty issue. Not covered. Pretty bummed. Liked the truck alot. Thanks for the info. I'll keep looking.

The Outdoorsman is a customer option package on the SLT trim level truck, similar to the BigHorn/LoneStar option package. When you run the VIN on them the trim line states SLT 4x4. Not all Outdoorsmans left the factory with 3.92 gearing and some of the '14 CC w/6.4' have the BW44-44 transfer case instead of the BW44-45.
All '16 and newer 1500 Outdoorsman trucks were Canadian vehicles, as the Rebel was introduced in the US for that model year and replaced the Outdoorsman.
Then you can find a freek truck like mine that is an Outdoorsman with the BigHorn package. The only options I don't have is leather, sunroof and air suspension.

You can get the warranty transferred. Mine and my sons both came from Canada. Initially I called an aftermarket warranty company and could get a bumper to bumper for about $2000. I called Chrysler Cares and spoke with them several times. The truck has to have at least 15,000km (about 9200 miles) to transfer the warranty. I got mine and my sons both transferred and from what they told me most all can be transferred. There are 2 codes (something like 592 and 596) one is eligible and the other is not. We have not tried to get any warranty work done on ours but I had a local dealer do both of ours and called a different dealer and they pulled them both up by VIN and said there was no longer anything indicating they were Canadian and nothing noting no warranty.

For mine since I got mine first I called Chrysler Cares about 4 or 5 times, emailed them paperwork, etc. After I hit the mileage limitation I called the local dealer and they pulled it up in Dealer Connect and transferred it there. When I did my sons I just called that same dealer and they did it. Prior to that when they pulled it up it was all in kilometers and they knew right away there was no warranty.

I wouldn't run away from a Canadian vehicle but call your dealer or Chrysler Cares first. I got mine with 8000 miles and my son got his with 6000 miles and we both paid $39,900. 2 dealers were going to give me $14,000 on my trade and this one gave me $18,000 so I feel I got a pretty good deal. Mine has almost 16,000 on it now and my sons has about 48,000 on it (yeah, in 10 months)

Glad I could help, it might be a trouble free truck, but I would imagine you wouldn't be very happy if you weren't told up front and actually needed something.

2016 was the last year in the US, option was gone for 17. How do I know. Well a 16 Outdoorsman is sitting in my driveway, bought new in PA.
